May you now rest your head to sleep

    the dust is gone

    as are the cries

    of thousands

    reaching out to live

    .

    You spirit is seen here

    all day

    and night

    by all

    who saw the people cry.

    .

    I have seen you

    wandering

    through nights

    of those who couldn't forget

and tried to tell the world their woe

    .

    I have seen you

    being intepreted

    in offices

    and used for war

    .

    I have seen you

in the eye of the child

    that wanted her dad,

    no war, no plea

    for revenge

    .

    You are the existential pain

    like all deaths

    claw into their families lifes

and want to be hold on.

    .

Now thousand footsteps on your grave

    and more

    and more to be

    .

Now lay your head to rest my friend

be with those who I loved

    so many years ago

    and are already gone

    Whom I let loose

    to drift in memories

    and ease the pain

    into a momentary tear

    I didn't even see

    .

    May I be worthy

    that you died

    and left your dream

    to be my goal:

    peace in the world

    and in my heart

    compassion for each living soul.

  • This is beautiful, Imbi, and reminds me of the Wiping of Tears Ceremony of the Lakota.  Families will keep the Spirit around for a year, feeding it, praying with it, and then at the end of the year, with ceremony, they release the Spirit to go on.  Both the Spirit and the family are now free of the grieving, free to move on.  I believe yesterday's ceremony fulfilled the same thing.  Especially how the wind came up... the Spirits were most certainly there... and they were moving on.    ~Paloma
