  • We weren't looking for a new home for Josie, even though Todd kept wondering if keeping her was the right thing for our family.  He was talking to his friend Andrew at work (they go jogging or workout at lunch several times a week) about his doubts, and Andrew got very excited.  He said his daughter has been wanting her own dog (they have an older small dog) and from everything Todd said, Josie sounded like the dog they had been looking for. The daughter is 9-years old, and an only child.  Andrew's wife is a stay-at-home Mom, so Josie would get more attention during the day, too.

The first time Todd told Andrew we were fostering Josie, Andrew suggested that they take her, but it wasn't until Andrew started pressing Todd that he finally asked me about the idea. I felt it was really up to Zane, and he said while he enjoyed having Josie, he said he didn't at all mind seeing if it was a better fit for the other family.  We all agreed to give it a try.

Andrew's daughter, Fina (short for Josefina!), has been told she is "dogsitting," and so far so good.  Todd took her to their house on Tuesday and spent an hour with them, inspecting the yard (both he and Josie!) and fixing some things that were not right for Josie, and making sure the dogs would get along.  The mother walked Josie and Lucy, their other dog,  to school to pick up Fina that afternoon, and Josie was the hit at school.  Fina adores Josie!  They were also impressed how smart Josie is--they have a doggie door and they have never been able to get Lucy to use it, no matter what they've tried--food, propping it open, she never got the hang of it.  Josie discovered it the first day and started using it on her own.  She really is a clever little dog.

The only concern they expressed so far is what will they do with her when they go on vacation.  We had the answer for that--we will dogsit!  And we've invited them to come to the cabin for a weekend this summer--they are going to bring Josie with them, of course!
