  • Ready for Spring, Relying on a Promise, & Red Brick Photos

    Shadow on the Wall

    Spring
I love days with bright blue skies, such as yesterday.  I took a few shots of this abandoned church/school/place from the outside.  It doesn't look like the most structurally sound place on the inside, so I didn't venture in past the open doorway.  Not far from here is an abandoned factory for munitions.  Now that's a place I would d love to get in to and shoot (if you'd believe it, that was an unintended pun).  I'm also in need of a camping trip.  It's been far too long since I visited the beautiful eastern mountain states, camping or not.  With a new tent sitting still unused and spring weather nearly here, it's all I can do to stay responsible and not run off for a few days with family in tow.  What are you planning for your next vacation/break/getaway?

    Trust (Jeremiah 29:11)
I've seen Jeremiah 29:11 referenced countless times.  We take comfort in God's promise of having a plan for His own.  We claim the promise as our own.  Yet what do we do with that promise?  When financial struggles strike, do we rest on this promise?  When others seem against us, do we rest on this promise?  His promise doesn't change even if we worry, however the comfort of that promise shared is lost when we focus on the problems at hand.  In light of His promise of having plans for us, what would the problems look like?  They are not a pleasant ends to a means, but when we dwell on God and not problems, we will indeed see God at work.  We are never abandoned.

I claim Jer 29:11 many times so that I can get through the difficult times.  One of these days I will post my devotional of what I think about a picture of an abandoned church and I have a different view point of what you wrote about today. Maybe this next week.

Oh, the next vacation is to Ohio at the end of the month and then possibly to Vegas in April for hubby's 50th birthday.

good shadows!  You are right about the way we approach life.  When things are going good we "rely" on God.  But when things go bad we (often) don't have patience to wait on Him.

My next vacation/trip will be to Texas for my sister's wedding.

I think part of our problem is that we think to claim God and His promises when things are going well, but forget to bless His name for all the trials, too.

wow....I needed that. Jeremiah 29:11 has been my life verse for a few years now, and yet I rarely take time to look at it's meaning.
And considering my last post, I think God was giving me advice when I wandered over here to your site. So thanks for being the relay-er of this message.

Hey bro, thanks.    I've got one last post up, and in a few days I'm shutting it down.  I've already shut down my newest Xanga.

    Blessings,

    Lonnie

I love the shots and the thought about His never abandoning us.  Next vacation ~ I wish I knew ~ work needing to be done is piling high around here.
