  • Gaming It Up, Simon Series, Photos of Faces

    Fascination

    Game day, baby
Not the best photos I suppose, but I found them to be cute.  I hope you enjoy as well.  Moving right along though, I was introduced to a new game last night called Sequence, which involves playing cards of sorts and a special board.  A great game!  Especially when you have the two guys versus the wives and everyone's up for some trash talk. Guys of course won (...barely)!  It had been a while since I sat down and played a game like that.  I love games, especially Phase 10... which happens to be one of the most frustrating games as well.  Recently, we've been introduced to Settlers of Catan.  Very addictive if you enjoy those kinds of games.  We do.  Thankfully though, we can't afford to get the set so we won't be spending hours bugging people with our gaming addiction.  What board or card game would you recommend?

Simon to Peter (Part 1 of 3)
Simon was the first of the disciples to enter the empty tomb more than a week ago.  Twice Jesus was before Simon in person.  But things are still not right.  He is still being Simon.  He still carries the weight of that night... he had abandoned Jesus.  He had disowned Jesus.  He did everything he said he would not do, and Jesus warned him that it would happen.  But Simon talk to Jesus about it.  So he decides to spend a little time doing what he knows he can count on: fishing.  The brothers, his old partners, of course come along, as did a couple others.  It never fails though that at the worst time, even fishing fails to comfort.  All night and not one fish.  Familiar... Then a man calling out to them from shore.  Very familiar... Just as Jesus had called Simon that very first morning, He calls Simon and the others again.  Once more, the fish are caught in abundance as they follow Jesus' direction.  But Simon isn't thinking fish.  He jumps out and swims to Jesus.  Simon's old life provided no comfort for him, but he finds peace as Jesus provides a simple breakfast for them this morning. (John 21:1-14)

How I love that story of Jesus and Peter(Simon)!!! To think how much He loves us...that even when we fail Him and deny Him...He welcomes us back and invites us to be with Him...amazing love....

?ofD: I guess the games already mentioned are the ones I really like...and Life...always loved those little cars...Clue is another fave...and can't forget Stragego (or however you spell it)....

RYC and this side of the country is only a 20 hour drive and well worth it if you skip driving through Kansas or sleep through that part of I-70. The ocean is worth seeing but you won't see it from here, ha. We will make the drive to Ohio in June and then head to Maryland. We put over 5000 miles each year on one car for our vacations now that the grand daughter is around. The picture of your son at the aquarium is wonderful. I love the shadows on his face.

i beg to differ! i think that the lead singer of everyday sunday and brian from stellar kart are puh-reeeeeeeeeetty blessed, hahahaha!

    card game - egyptian ratscrew.

NERTS! It's played with a minimum of 2 players and a minimum of 2 decks of cards. Suits in the middle from aces up, and red/black on your own console as you see fit. Very fun and very addicting, especially when you have 4 people and 4 decks and the trash talk is flying! All in good fun, of course :)

I think you should do your own version of The Message Bible.

I do like the pictures!  Expressions are marvelous!  Good thoughts about Peter.  He did just abandon the fishing to see Jesus.  Much like when he and Andrew and James and John were first called.  They left their nets immediately and followed Him.

ERS!! [egyptian rat screw] :D amazing.

    cole's pics are cayuuuute!

yeah, we saw a skit at yec and peter's all like: it's you jesus, it's really you! listen, i'm sorry about whatever i said to you and how i ran but it's you!

and he asks him 3 times if he loves him and peter's all: yeah, yeah! then jesus says: what did the angel say?

peter: go tell the disciples and peter that i have risen, and you're here!

jesus: no what did the angel say?

peter: go tell the disciples and peter that i have risen, listen, i'm real sorry about denying you.

jesus: No, peter. what did the angel say?

peter: ugh, he said: GO TELL THE DISCIPLES and...pet..why did you say my name?

and jesus is all: i've forgiven you

    bit of a rant

    xD

but i thought it was a good skit.

    hehe

Of course they are cute. That's your boy! Just because you have a lot of photographers looking at your blog, doesn't mean you shouldn't put up images that bring you joy. (I struggle with this too LOL)

Fav Game right now is Mexican Trian Dominoes, but I also luv the board game Labyrinth

Pit... it's a very fast paced card game based on the stock market.. and it's really not hard to learn either.. and there is a bit of strategy.. I won't promise that it won't be frustrating though.

I enjoy Phase 10 as well.. My last deck however got donated to the cause of Creation as so many people played it while at creation that it's now all dirtied up and I won't play with it at home.. yeah none of that probably made sense./.. (creation is a big music festival up in PA, well PA for me as an eastcoaster, where everyone camps out for about 5 days)

Skipbo (not sure if that's spelled right) is also quite good.. fun game decently fast.

I love Sequence! Also Scrabble is a good one. It stretches your mind.

I like egyptian rat screw but can't seem to remember how to play it =D   Other than that, UNO rules I have the CSI game but it is hard to round up people that want to work their brains and figure out the mystery haha.

rcy: I took the photo, it's my 6 year old looking for sea shells. Glad you liked it.

I love Phase 10, too...but I think the funniest game ever is Guesstures. I love that game. I am always cracking up when we play it!
  • fuzzydi
Sequence rocks! Sometimes we have game night at church, and there are dozens of games available to play, but we always end up with a sequence tournament going. :) We all make our own boards - poster board size. Great game! I also love Cribbage or backgammon.

Scrabble is my favorite.  Today, I really just want to swim to Jesus and partake with Him and have Him help me learn to fish better.

I came by to meet you after reading a comment from your wife about how great your site is! You are a lucky guy to have a wife that adores you! Anyway, your pictures on your site are beautiful! 3 of our families favorite games are Balderdash (very fun bluffing game), Pente (strategy), and Blokus. Blokus will bring out the competition in a person! The last time we played it there were 3 males and 2 females, including me. The other female and I were cutting up and having a great time in between turns...not taking it too seriously. The males on the other hand, were deep in thought, and barely moving or speaking. It is not a party game! Nice to meet you!

Darn. Buddy could well have been all ten.
    1. Buddy's face
    2. Buddy's laugh
    3. Buddy's silliness
    4. Buddy's OMG AWESOME ARMS
    5. Buddy's feet (they cute)
    6. Buddy's voice (OMG SEXY)
    7. Buddy's warmth (I'm a cold natured person and he keeps me warm)
    8. Buddy's intelligence (one the few people my age who I respect as a match for my own mind. Yes I am a horrible snob)
    9. Buddy's silly habits and quirks
    10. Buddy's complete indulgence in his Babygirl.

...Except apparently I can live without these things because well here I am and last time I checked I wasn't dead.

My email address is pretty predictable. babygirlbanister@yahoo.com

As for games... Apples to Apples is a GREAT game. But it's a party game, you'd need other people to play. It's most fun in a group of couples.

Peter is one of the most interesting Biblical characters.  Rough and Ready.
