  • The Commissioned, Great Silliness, and Photos Needing an Explanation

    The Wait is Over
Would you want to go back and stay in that time when Jesus lay in the tomb and all seemed lost?  Would you want to go back and stay in that time when the rumors spread on the day of Jesus' resurrection, but at a point where you wouldn't know for yourself?  What about that period of 40 days when the resurrection was certain, but what to do next was uncertain and when you would see Jesus again was equally uncertain?  If you could choose any moment to remain in, those in love with Christ would not choose those moments.  They were not meant for anyone to have to experience again.  So why do so many people want to stay in that moment when the disciples sat in the upper-room, waiting for what was to come?  Those days have past.  There is no having to wait to know Jesus or to wait to know the Spirit.  With no need to wait, that leaves only to follow His great commission. (Matthew 28:19-20)

    Silly Side of Sightseeing
No trip with a group of high schoolers is complete without a little goofing off.  When there's goofing off to be done, I'm there ready to do it.  So after a time of roaming the museum, things turned a bit silly for us.  The photos may be a little boring without the explanations, so if you are not reading this then... well never mind.  The first is of what we determined is a US Air Force ice-cream trolley.  Handy during the hot months of deployment.  It gets an impressive 60 mpg, I think it was!  Off to the back of the hanger, shoved to the back and feeling forgotten was a large prop-driven plane.  Underneath the engines were small piles, one per engine.  We decided that the poor plane had digestion problems, so those were plane droppings.  Do you think museums are boring?

I love museums. The best attraction when I was in Orlando was the NASA museum and tour at Cocoa Beach. Our science museum in St. Paul is a blast also.

My disdain for museums is matched only by my childrens' equally deep disdain for museums. One year our family had a reunion in Tuscon Arizona. My mom (who loves museums) announced we were all going to the Catcus Museum..woohoo!! Needless to say, my kids and I passed on that one. But my SIL, who also homeschooled, got all excited about going and the fact that she had packed a microscope which meant they could study the cactus needles when they got back. Really now, who brings a microscope to a family reunion? I sat in my room and cried cuz I figured I was the worst homeschooling mom in the world cuz I hated museums and I didn't bring a microscope to our family reunion...in fact, worse still, we didn't even own an microscope. How sad is that? LOL. So instead of going to the museum, we had beanie-baby races across the hardwood floors in the hallway and played hide-n-go-seek among the living catcus in the front yard...we didn't learn a thing, but it's a memory the kids' still cherish (and I think their cousins were totally jealous).

I did however appreciate the Holocaust Museum in D.C....very moving.

Love the plane poop...very funny. And you can bet, that's what they're all going to remember for years to come.

Good point on the devotional. Very thought-provoking.

I love museums. I don't find them boring at all, but I do have to admit to having a time limit in museums. Eventually, there's only so much appreciating I can do.

Museums dedicated to something I don't care about are boring. But I am the quintessential curious learner and the list of things that I don't care about is very short. I will joyfully learn just about anything. Which reminds me again that I need to decide which museum buddy and I are gonna go to when he's here. And this time we're not gonna lock the keys in the car while the radio's on.

I like most museums, I'm not real fond of science museums that are kind of geared for young ones. History museums are rather interesting I think.

some museums are indeed boring as all museums can't be all things to all people. for example, if i went to a purse museum, i would probably be quite bored. i can say i like to learn about new things, but really... i can only look at purses for so long. so i guess it depends. air plane museums are not boring!

hahaha....very creative explainations. I actually really like the 2nd picture, mainly the texture and dof.

I usually do like museums, but a few can be awfully boring and don't have anything worth looking at in them

The violin shot ROCKS! I felt it. Plane poop, cool shot, but didn't feel it, for good reason.

Museums; I can only enjoy them by myself; My wife and kids HATE them.

Also, the only other Canon service station is in New Jersey. Mail ins for the sensor cleaning will probably be free. call um.

the plane poop is awesome.... I'm all over that one... gotta love hangin' out with high schoolers.
    how are you?
    how are you feeling?
neck better? I know it's been awhile - do forgive.
and no, I wouldn't want to be in those days. I am so grateful that the Holy Spirit was left for us in Jesus' ascension. I would be lost, utterly lost without His counsel and comfort... thank the good Lord. :)
things are good here - busy and I must be getting to bed, but good.
    peace,
    tree
