  • Never Forsaken, CSI at Home, and Still Photo(lessness)

    Never Alone
"Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Christ." (Philippians 1:27) This isn't an order or a law or a rule; this is a reminder.  When He becomes a part of our life, He doesn't become a small part of it or a controlled portion of it... He becomes the center of it.  Studying the Bible, prayer, and any other act of drawing closer to Him enable us to give Him that center point.  We not only learn of God and His works, our everyday thoughts begin to center around Him.  It's displayed in our speech, in our writing, in our choices, in our very actions.  Thus, whatever the day brings, whether uplifting or beyond discouraging, we are not without hope and we are not without the ability to act in a manner worthy of Christ.  We are not abandoned to the venture through the joys and trials alone (Deut 31:6), but He does calls us to do the things that draw us closer to Him as well.

    CSI: Living Room
A bit of the lighthearted, for you at least:
Yesterday, I walked into the living room to find a gruesome site.  The camera lay on the floor, a binder on top of it and a piece of it nearly a foot away (the memory card cover).  I first wondered if the wife bumped them onto the floor on her way out, but the crime scene didn't fit, for they both lay in front of the door... difficult for her to achieve if she went out that door.  Further investigation revealed a giant stuffed animal nearby.  Perhaps the young boy.  While he seemed to be fast asleep in his bed, he's known for a history of pretending to be asleep when something goes wrong.  His sleep seemed genuine, so he was tentatively ruled out as a suspect.  That left the cat.  Said cat is known for climbing on top of furniture, however he has diplomatic immunity.  So the crime goes unsolved and unpunished.  The poor camera can only hope for a quick hospital stay soon.  Who did it?

Perhaps the camera tried to commit suicide and wanted to make it look like the cat did it. Is the cat allowed to go outside? Perhaps he's fallen in with a shady bunch, and one of them did it and tried to frame the kidlet. Either way, it still just leaves you praying for a speedy (and not too expensive) recovery.

Your devotion today is so true.

Oh, no!! What a gruesome scene you happened upon!! My odds lay on the cat, as I have had a cat try his darndest to destroy a camera. I swear, they are really brilliant creatures who will stop at nothing to baffle and undermine us at every possible opportunity. Here's to a speedy and non-expensive recovery. Keep us updated.

Hope the camera isn't terminal...wasn't also run over by the jeep recently? My dog says to blame the cat!

That is a tough one considering the young one has been sleeping with said large bunny the last few nights...but generally he will fake sleep at the scene of the crime...and then tell you about it later....so I would have to say it is Ty the Cat...

A cat having diplomatic immunity. Whoever HEARD of such a thing. No, but seriously, I'm just prejudiced to think it's the "young boy", since my younger brother and sister are almost always culprits when something goes wrong around the house.

I loved your "Never Alone" paragraph. It describes exactly what I've been thinking about since yesterday afternoon. Pretty intriguing, actually.

Your devo sounds a lot like mine this morning.. it was about the value of sitting at the feet of Jesus...             Jesus BE THE CENTER!

I bet Gary Larson would have fun with that CSI scene!!  I miss the Far Side..(sigh)
