  • Compassion for You, Caught by Nature, Conifer Photos

    Natural Pattern

    One of them
Do you ever consider the compassion of Jesus?  There are certain moments when the gospels talk of Jesus being moved by the people He say, such as in Matthew 9:36 when He noticed the crowds and had compassion on them.  I've never placed myself in that particular moment.  Never considered being one of those that Jesus felt a deep compassion for in that moment.  Yes, He proved how much He cared for us on the cross, and of course I don't mean to belittle that in the least.  But just consider for a moment: Jesus is going from town to town.  He comes to your town.  You see Him.  He sees all those around you.  He sees you.  And you know that He is deeply moved.  Jesus, the Word made flesh, through which everything was created, has walked to your town... to where you are, and His very heart hurts for you.  Just one of those moments of "wow" for me.

    Natural Pattern in Contrast

    A shot of nature
I love shooting nature.  The natural world captures me, especially as a breeze blows through the trees.  The swaying motion and the rustling leaves (or needles) of trees can relax me like few other things.  I know I've mentioned this in the past, but I was reminded of it again today.  The photos, taken Sunday, turned out moderately well.  I had hoped for more contrast in the black and white, but it wasn't a total loss.  I love the starburst/firework pattern at the end of pine branches.  They'd be even more beautiful last night after a strong (though short) storm, but it's was dark and I was tired in the late hours.  After a good storm and catching the Republican candidates debate, I was ready to sleep.  Not that I did sleep... I worked on photos for a church instead.  I also worked up another graphic for Dan's video contest, which you can see at TheTheologiansCafePolitically minded or not, have any of the Republican candidates caught your attention?

None of the GOP candidates have impressed me at all. I am hoping that Fred Thompson will decide to run. I think he would have a lot of support and be a great alternative to the field of players right now.

    Jason,

I really like your photography and your comments (just subscribed).  And I like your idea of always asking a question to encourage dialogue - I may steal that for my blog.  I haven't paid much attention to the political race yet.  Neither party hits on all my buttons.

Thanks for the reminder about the compassion Jesus had.

I love shooting nature as well. My favorite are the AZ storms that brew.

And I haven't seen anyone yet who has impressed me. Once it's gets closer, I will actually sit down and read up on all of them and base my decision once I've educated myself.

I love the pictures. I am being reminded constantly through study this month about the compassion of Jesus, now I need to apply it. As a die-hard republican, I am not paying attention to those guys yet. I am looking at the democratic side to know who we will be dealing with and then seeing who is strong enough to run against them. If I had to vote today, I would be voting for Bill Richardson, D-New Mexico. He has such a great resume for the problems that we are seeing in America. He has been a great governor despite his management style. Check him out if you want to see the many national positions he has held in the Clinton administration. I can't believe I just typed something good about a democrat.

I would choose Giuliani over McCain, but would prefer an Oliver North, or Newt Gingrich.

Sad to say, I doubt anyone can beat an Clinton/Obama ticket, especially w/ the left wing media lying about the WMD's. - Even though Hussein's right arm man, came out and said, YES, the most certainly did have WMD's, even gave interviews on how they transported them to other countries, the left wing media REFUSES to address that. They would rather the public believe the lie, so that democrats can use that to manipulate the voters.

    - JUST MY opinion, I could be wrong!

I'll be honest, of all the candidates that have announced that their running,(republican and democratic) I would probably go with Giuliani...although for me it would be like choosing the best of all the bad.....I'm still holding out hopes that Fred Thompson will run...if he runs, he has my vote for SURE!

I like the colored image...it says JOY to me.

Your insight into the compassion of Christ is so dear. I have moments when the Holy Spirit promts me to see the world in such a way, my heart is filled with sorrow because so many reject the Lord and don't realize the JOY that could fill the void in their hearts

I think Mitt is probably the best bet so far.  I never trusted McCain and I don't think many people do on the conservative Republican side.
  • This_Is_Important
Mitt has certainly caught my attention, however I won't vote for him because I don't want to explain to people from other countries that I think my president is in a cult. Also I think that him being elected president will give an authentication to the Mormon church that it has never had before. Proverbs.... uhh 28 I think talks about countries and their leaders.

I like Rudy and Mitt so far...Huckabee caught my attention last night...so he may be a new fave of mine. I know I do not like McCain and that guy from Texas...

Yeah, um I don't even know who all's running for President- I know lik three Republicans that are running, and two Dems, but that's IT. It doesn't really matter right now anyway seeing how I'm not even of the voting age as of now.

I see the pciture, and love it, but think in about three weeks all those little yellow things are going to EXPLODE. We have so many pine trees at my house that when the wind blows there are clouds of pollen that come out. I'm serious, clouds like you can see them in the air type of cloudes. Its crazy. I'm just glad I don't have allergies. :-]

They're all big dorks.  Thompson isn't a bad guy, but I'm not sure he's right for an executive role.  (My dad has explained to me in the past that voters prefer to make presidents out of governers rather than congressmen, because governers have experience as political executives, whereas congressmen are legislators.  It is an important point.)  Thompson was a senator.  And, so far, his speeches have been lackluster.

Giuliani was recently asked whether the country can trust him, given that he had an adulterous relationship.  His answer ('look at my record, it proves that it didn't affect my job - I did not let down the people of New York') may be correct, but I am, really, very, very tired of having liars and adulterers in high offices.  I'll bet he'd make a strong president though.

I don't trust Romney.  I don't care what religion the next president turns out to be -- none of them really believe their supposed religion, with the possible, notable exception of Bush -- or if they do believe, they're still too preoccupied with secular issues to do justice to the moral teachings, and possible political implications, of their religion(s).  No, the reason I don't trust Romney is because he will say anything to get elected.  He was liberal long enough to get elected governor of Massachusetts, and now he is one of the more conservative Republican candidates.  How did that come about?

The thing is, I can almost respect Obama.  Obama probably believes in what he says.  Too bad I don't believe in entitlement programs, overpaid lawyers, or Keynesian economics.  Otherwise I might become a Democrat, just so I could follow a candidate who sort of means what he says.

And, they're all completely inarticulate.  None would hold a candle to Reagan.  Then again, much of the inarticulate-ness probably has to do with their 'handlers' (the people that do their P.R. work, write their speeches).  Bush has the same political plague of the inarticulate.

Bah, it's what, 500 days until the first primary election?  I already know enough to not want to vote for any of them.  I'd give my eyeteeth for a candidate like J. C. Watts.  Or maybe there's enough of Reagan's DNA left, and we could clone him.
