  • Honor and Humility, Children, and Children Photo

    Becoming greater than ourselves
"Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves" (Romans 12:10).  These are the days of "think of yourself."  Of course that's nothing new; it's been a mindset since we've had minds to set.  But we think so much of ourselves and of honoring ourselves, we like to believe that our problems are unique from times before.  That we do things newer and better than days before.  What's new however?  Democracy and republics?  Not especially.  Our grand technological age?  Some of the tools are new, but the marvel over our own accomplishments certainly is not.  Our enlightment of ourselves and intellegence of the need of God?  Perhaps we've backpedaled to a degree there, since there was a time when even those refusing God would at least acknowledge Him.  "Honor one another above yourselves."  When we truly see others as God's own created ones that we should love and honor, then we might start moving in the right direction.

    Morning Preschool

    For the children
I was surprised yesterday when I noticed that my Footprints at around 1pm were equal to what they were for all the week earlier.  I rarely check Footprints, but curiosity had me clicking the link to see where the flood of guests were coming from.  Most were from the Xanga homepage, so I followed another link to see the main page.  There the little guy was, staring at a big train engine.  It's the first thing I've had on Featured since before I disappeared last fall (and before the revamped the system), so that was an encouragement.  Today is another kid photo, this from Sunday's preschool class at church.  I couldn't help but think about how only a short time ago, I rarely posted pictures of people, favoring instead to post landscapes and such scenes.  I miss taking time to shoot such things, but that's a topic for another post.  Do you remember the days of coloring with Crayons (or are they still here for you)?

Oh, I love that verse in Romans. I reflect on that verse often. I find it hard sometimes because it seems that we (me, included!) are self-centered. I try not to be, and try to put others needs before mine, but it is hard sometimes.

I hate those footprints. I try not to check them, but I always do. They will be the death of my demise. I saw that pic when I hopped on Xanga yesterday. I was like, "Hey, I know that kid." Well, not really, but you know what I mean. I know him from subscribing to you. :O)

Awesome pic of the kids! I love kids so that pic is precious to me. I volunteer with Children's ministry every weekend, I still love to color. It's very calming. *Grin*

I remember the days and still own some although they're more for crafts than general coloring.

There's a wonderful site called www.fishcan.com that will show you who's visited your site and what they looked at, time and more info.  It's more accurate than footprints since google hits and non-signed in xangians are listed too.  (I do like seeing those numbers too though.)
