  • Showing Christ, Shooting Fireworks and Cinci Photos

    Cincinnati Reds Win

    Love of Christ
Someone recently said "When you go to church, you aught to be made to feel like somebody.  Someone loved and cared for.  Someone special."  It's sad that there are so many places that call themselves a church, but look and act nothing like a church.  Sure they have a steeple, meet every Sunday morning, and have "church" printed on their sign, but they've become little more than a social club patting themselves on the back.  A church must build up it's members, but it must never forget its first priority: reaching out to those who are separated from Christ.  Our value is not in ourselves but in God's love for us.  Whomever you come across, let them see the love of Christ in you.  Let them see it in your church.

    Italian Festival Fireworks

    Shooting Fireworks
This is one of those unfocused days where my mind seems to be anywhere but what I'm trying to concentrate on.  It's not a bad day in the least, mind you.  But that isn't very interesting reading... It seemed like the night for fireworks the other night in Cincinnati.  While waiting for the end of the baseball game and ironically as soon as I set up my tripod, a festival in Newport started setting off fireworks.  I wasn't in the best position for shooting it, but it wasn't too bad.  I was in a great position for the stadium though.  Unfortunately the fireworks after the game didn't go off where expected, so I had to make quick adjustments which left too much sky in the picture.  It was a nice evening.  Is baseball still Americas passtime?

soooo  true about the church. it almost makes me sick. to think that the 'church' today is NOTHING like what Christ wants it to be, and that it sometimes even hurts the cause.

as for baseballl... i don't think people watch it as much as they used to, but  i think it's still right up there with apple pie and hamburgers.

So true ~ every thought, word and action should reflect God's love for us ~ and be passed on to others ~ beautiful photos!

I am a lifer when it comes to church but I have been recently disappointed with some of the things I have seen.  I guess we just have to jump in and make them different.  After all, we are the church.

Baseball is boring.  I can't watch it anymore.

A church must build up it's members, but it must never forget its first priority: reaching out to those who are separated from Christ.

If I'm reading this correctly then I think I may have to part company with you on this particular opinion. I think the first priority of the church [meaning the weekly meeting church, not the body as a church] is to build up and edify the believers. It should be aware of the seekers and provide opportunities for them to come to know the Lord, but I think the primary focus of the church itself should be to refresh and renew and sharpen those who are already believers. We can seek out that which is lost on our own, 6 days a week and the other 21 hours on Sunday [or Saturday, whenever it is you choose to meet], and I believe we are strongly commanded to do so, but I think the weekly meetings are specifically for the believers for the above mentioned purposes.

I'm a big fan of football over baseball-and the majority of the people that I know feel that way. So, yeah, for me, football is the ultimate sport.

Here in the South I would have to say that football rules supreme. But I agree with Sky about baseball being America's past time. I love the baseball movies more than the football ones. :) Brittanie

Travis would answer that baseball is the best sport ever (he played for a long time and still loves it). As for me, I've never really understood the term "pastime". If it is referring to our past, as in our history, then I would say that it will always be an American pastime. But if "pastime" is referring to something that the world would view as "American," then I would say American football has taken it's place. I'm not a big fan of baseball.

Impressive and well done! I have no had a chance to try a fireworks shot yet and I have a feeling that I would shake but who wants a tripod at that time.
