Random NotesWhen in the course of human events, people start suggesting Justin makes another blog post, it becomes necessary that he do so. After receiving several such requests lately, I will bow at the waist carefully (so as not to bust my beltbuckle) and accomodate my millions of fans. lol...millions of fans. That's a scary thought. New camera, have I, but no pictures. I wonder whatever I bought it for. I announce with pride my memorization of the first sixteen verses of Ephesians 4. Not impressed? What a pity. I'm not particularly impressed myself. Lord willing, come next May, I will have chapters 4-6 all memorized. Tuesday and Wednesday, while at work, I pasted 45 pages of labels on postcards. Oh, I did my normal duties too. By some accident, I also managed to hit the closeout button the computer thirty minutes before I was supposed to close on Tuesday. Fortunately, it didn't result in anything too difficult to fix. I had very few customers. Most just wanted to buy stamp booklets. A couple had flat rate priority packages which required no scale. I simply closed out the computer, wrote down what I'd sold (it ended up all adding together correctly, which was good) and closed the counter at 5. Thank you Lord! Tiffany Rose Kilgour, my darling little blonde (hmm, should blonde have come before little or even darling? 'blonde darling little...' Never mind) niece turns 7 in a few hours.
My famous and frankly fabulous niece. Congrats Tifferoo. I remember my seventh birthday as vividly as if it was yesterday...Ok, so it's on video tape. The party, trip to Disneyland, and me singing in the pool (no cracks) all on one video tape. Do I hear $10? $4? 6 bits? Forget it. Moving right along. I've been enjoying my new NKJV audio Bible "The Word of Promise". It's sort of a dramatization except it isn't. Basically, all the different characters are voiced by different people. Personally, I think this makes it easier to follow, but I like auditory stuff anyway. I'm in Romans right now, and loving it. Makes a great way to spend time to and from work. The church had a campout up near Idyllwild (the Men's Retreat location) in early October. I went along with the Westons and Stevens and the guys all slept in one tent. We were snug as bugs in rugs. At least, we were if you remove the bugs.
The first day it felt pretty decent outside until evening. Then it got cold. The next morning, it really didn't warm up, even in the afternoon. Silly Justin bet that it was going to warm up during the hike. Just think how silly he felt when it didn't. The first day, we went for a hike in the afternoon. I still owe some drinks to certain citizens for my pathfindering abilities. I do have a gift for finding the right path, I just haven't unwrapped that gift and given it to myself yet. The second day we took the higher trail and came back around lunch. It was getting pretty cold and we wore coats for a good portion of the day. The afternoon, we mainly hung around and played games inside tents and stuff. Friday night, we talked about making a movie for dhp (www.dhpfilms.com) while we were there. Kevin suggested spoofing The Man From Snowy River, an 80's Australian western with Kirk Douglas. We'd all seen it recently and enjoyed some parts and groaned at the overly romantic parts. So we poked some fairly gentle fun at...well, you can decide for yourself. http://www.viddler.com/explore/dhpfilms/videos/9/ In the original movie, Kirk Douglas plays two twin brothers. In ours, we split it up between Kevin and myself. And just for the fun of it, in the movie, we call Kevin 'Kirk' and me 'Douglas'. The movie is very much centered around horses. We had no horses. So, we simply pretended they were there. If you do the same, you will leave the movie feeling very funny. Therefore, we will allow you to keep your disbelief and cackle in glee at our wild antics (and they are certainly wild). Kyle plays a suitably dull-witted hero and his sister Rachel joined the fun to play a completely off-character bratty child who falls in love with Jim. Personally, I thought the movie was hilarious, but I'm undoubtedly biased. Sometime or other in mid(ish) November, our brass group (The New Name Brass - a nod to the song There's A New Name Written Up in Glory, a favorite of ours) will be playing a prelude up in San Diego and the Stevens' cousins' church. In the evening, the five of us will be joining three of their men to sing a men's chorus song from our book (actually, it's The Wilds book, but we're using it) Soldiers of the Cross - Volume 2. It looks like we'll be singing Above All Else, which is a really pretty song that is fun to sing and more importantly, talks about the priority of putting God's glory before our own as He is much more worthy of it than we are. Sounds like we'll be starting with the fun and bouncy When the Roll is Called up Yonder before moving to one of my favorite slower songs Now I Belong to Jesus. We'll move to group favorite A New Name in Glory before finishing with the slow and reverent, Spirit of God Descend Upon My Heart. Got my second paper back from Moody Bible Institute (for my correspondence course, New Testament Survey). The instructor marked the title page "99", "A", and "Tops". And that was the only thing written on the entire paper. As my brother Aaron said, "That means you spent way too much time on it." We'll see how bad I did on the second test. That's all that's hitting my brain at the moment (good thing, too. It's sort of fragile). If I remember anything else, I'll put up a post-it note. Toodles. |
