  • Dear God,

Hey, how are you?  I bet not too many people ask you that.  Of course, I know you are just fine, but the asking is what's important.

There's lots of bad stuff going on down here on Earth, I'm sure you've seen the news.  I'm thinking we need a little help.  Yes, I know you are always helping us, always have, but we need some extra inspirational help.  I think we need to understand what Peace really is and how we can obtain it and sustain it.

Yes...yes...I know, I know...peace in my heart is the first step.  I think we all realize that to some degree.  How do we make it go from our hearts to the world?  How do we push that peacefulness and Love into the web that connects us all.  How do we infect the world with the Peace Virus?  I don't think anyone would say that they would prefer a world without peace and yet we continue to create and recreate exactly that type of world.

Peace Virus.  Now there's an idea.  Imagine.  I caught a little peace bug.  I ignored it, went on about my life, and it grew so large that I had to infect someone else to relieve the pressure.  Peace, unlike the common cold, isn't shared through sneezes and coughs.  No the Peace Virus doesn't spread that way.  It spreads through toleration, acceptance, living and letting others live as well, committing random acts of kindness.  It spreads by filling your heart and mind with gentle thoughts, projecting life, protecting life.  It spreads when anyone loves another the way you love us.  It spreads through gratefulness and the knowledge that we are enough...we have enough.  There is no cure for this virus.  Nothing can stop it once it starts to spread.  Well, nothing except fear.

Think you can manage to cook up a virus like that for us to share?  We've tried everything else, political summits, marches, singing, speeches and countless other things....huh? what's that you say?  We haven't tried everything?!  What else can we possibly do to achieve peace in our time in our world?

    Pray.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.  We've heard that before.  Praying for it hasn't really helped in the peace department, has it?  Well, yes, I realize that only you know for sure the true extent the power of prayer/meditation/just hanging out with you can have on things we don't even realize.  Yes, I know that a lot of the time humans seem to think that prayer is just an emergency number to call.  Some people think that praying is only for glorifying you...you don't need us for that, surely.  There are a few, though, that know that prayer is really just a chance for us to connect with you, like a modem that processes our connection instantly.

So...back to Peace...think you can work on that virus and perhaps we could work a little on the prayer?

Okay...it's a deal.  Thanks, God, I knew I could count on you to come up with a plan.

I'm going to go write about this now, think you could help me with that too?

Thanks.  I love you, but you know that already.

By the way, here in Wisconsin, our first-ever DOVE HUNTING season started yesterday.  Nice way to return the peaceful sentiment to the doves, eh?

Re your comment on my blog:  you aren't a traitor!  But yes any criticism of America is viewed as treachery by Americans, probably its even worse to say that its a less than 100% perfect place if you are an American.  But so what... you are a citizen of the world first.

I think you wrote this blog beautifully.

Infect the web with a peace virus, I like that concept.  Now do you think the person responsible would get up to 10 yrs in prison?

it is amazing that you grasp the concept of prayer in a time of day when people are so busy, stubborn, and prideful.  I do not pray often enough, but when I do, God is good to me.  I once had chaos in my home.  my fault, but I prayed night and day for God to change me and he did.  I had been a bitter, angry, adultress, liar for most of my life and then I cried out ot GOd to change me and he did.  Peace starts within and then it spreads in your home and eventually your community of friends and then through their friends and so forth.  If God cared enough about me, this little sinner, would he not care to change the world one prayer at a time?  Most of us just won't ask or we are afraid of the results.  You have taken a leap of faith here on Xanga and publically prayed for our world.  I salute you!

This was wonderful!  So creatively written... made me laugh at some parts and at the same time realize the truth of the words... beautiful.

Thank-you very much for the comment you left on my latest post.  Perhaps the reason you wrote the words the way you did was because I needed to hear them in exactly that way today.  : )

    :(

Yeah, the world needs to change. People always say it does, but it seems no one sticks to their words anymore. It's as if what people think doesn't matter to themselves, as if they see their thoughts or actions as something evil. People don't see truth anymore, they see truth as something to fear, and they seek comfort in the lies they are fed and the lies they feed to other people. And yet...everyone (almost everyone) says they hate it, but they just keep giving into this will and in the end they just give up....I don't understand things very well either, I guess, I'm only 17, I still have a while to go, I Just wish people could understand that the words they say can be really powerful if they would only let themselves speak. Look at how far we have come in this world, all of our inventions, cures, medicines, all that time and effort into saving people, when less time and effort goes into giving someone a hug or asking if they're okay....unbelieveable...it's as if the world is scared of kindness, as if they find kindess as a weakness in such an unperferct world that demands perfection.......
