  • My birthday was pleasant.  Dinner was made by my inlaws, and I loved it (pizza) though they thought it wasn't so good.  I was just grateful for dinner made by someone other than me.  That was a fun time, the kids were good and we stayed until it was dark.  I received a check from my mother and cash from Ed's parents, as birthday gifts.  $150 total.  I spent it at Target on clothes for myself... One pair of pants (khaki cropped), three pairs of shorts (black, white, denim all Bermuda style), 4 tops  (2 casual, 2 dress-ier).  I now have enough clothes that fit my fuller, softer self comfortably.  I am sure you are all very happy to know that I will no longer have to unbutton my pants because I cannot breathe (for now... I did have a big slice of peach pie that I made for dessert tonight).  I am very pleased with my new clothes, as unexciting as they are.  I don't need exciting right now, I need basics.
I also picked myself up a journal, I've been wanting to try writing again.  And finally, I gifted myself with a new package of Post-it large note pads to satisfy my list making fetish... now THAT was exciting.

Why yes, I am aware of my neurosis.

Here are the cards I received from my children...

Ed and I about died laughing at... "You are not 37 anymore... you are 38!:

I scrubbed my kitchen floor today and ninety minutes later my children spilled orange KoolAid all over it.  This happened while I was finishing dinner preparations and they were setting the table.  This, of course, became a competition and the drink went flying.  The pie was awesome (I had 8 bruised peaches in the fridge I didn't want to waste), so was dinner (hamsteak for Ed and J.; asparagus, salad with spinach/cucumber/carrots/apples/tomatoes, and corn on the cob for all of us).

My sister and the boys come over to play tomorrow.  We're ordering Chinese food and sushi for lunch.  My daughters wanted to know how many nights they are staying.  Um... none, they live a half hour away.
    Peaceful blessings.
    Good night.
