We all say we're always busy, but in actuality, "busy" really means "I'm too busy for you" and "I'd rather do other things." Part of today's message at church was about how we invest our time: We have a finite amount of time in this world and how we use our time defines what's important to us.
I took a nap and woke up to a Facebook message from Pency telling me that our friend Tony died. No reality check hits you harder than the death of a family member or friend. Other problems just become miniscule.
I started thinking of the old days - the way things used to be, the people I hung out with, the things we did together - and wonder how things ever changed. I've only hung out with Tony a handful of times since college despite us being in the same city or me driving past his house at least once a week.
I don't know about you but I admit I don't spend enough time with certain friends though I claim I value everyone's friendship.
Teach us to make the most of our time, so that we may grow in wisdom.

I agree with you. RIP to your friend.
May he rest in peace.
Aww... poor guy. He was so young. RIP.
I'm so sorry to hear, man. =(
Looking at his xanga site, I'm wondering whether his injuries led to something down the road...like occult bleeding that finally took its toll later or perhaps an embolism. Sigh, regardless, it's sad. It can happen to any one of us. A reminder to live each day to its fullest and to not take our faith in God for granted.
May he rest in peace.
aww. sorry to hear that. :[
Sorry to hear about your friend. I think sometimes life goes by so fast that we never realize we're missing things.
Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I know i am guilty of not making time for enough of the important people in my life. A very sobering weekend indeed.
sorry for your loss.
that is so true about the busy thing! sad about your friend :(
It hit me hard when I read his memorial! So sudden, so young! Life is presious!Friendship is prizeless! I better make time to connect more with my special friends. It is a wakening call! I need to do some soul searching, prioritize, and "make the most of my time" while I am on this earth!
So true, and we're all given 24hours in a day.
RIP to your friend, and hang in there.
I'm sorry for your loss.
I just learned that one of my friends might have a tumor...
I'm scared crapless ....
I hope he rests in peace.
spend everyday with no regrets....i realized this when my friend past away 3 years ago also.....
so sorry to hear about your friend. but thanks for this post. i'm very guilty of not spending enough time with family/friends bc i'm too lazy or "busy." so again, thanks for the reminder.
I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I'm often guilty of spending my time selfishly, I too say I value friendships but really I often only see people when it's convenient for my schedule.
whoa..so sudden. =(
<3
omg!!! TONY!!
*hugs* - I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your friend Jonas. It's so easy to lose track of our priorities with our hectic and busy lives.
im sorry for your loss jonas<3. and so you know, you are the most thoughtful person i know and it seems impossible to ever have enough hours in the day to do the things you'd love to do because you are so busy doing things you hav to do (work, commuting, etc.). i dont love my job and but i have to go and i have to commute there, it's somethign we have to do to get to where we need to be -- for the day and in life! know that everyone who knows you knows that you are thinking of them. <3
I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I also had a friend pass away over the weekend. It's a tragedy. It really makes you think of what IS important to us, and what we should be doing to help prevent our death as well as our friends and family members.
I agree with the whole 'busy' statement. I need to spend more time on what is more important and what makes me and happy.
