  • Cabin fervor

For some strange reason, I can't get rid of my children.  They all had busy and exciting weekends planned, and now their weekends are cancelled.  I can't even get them to go visit their friends in the neighborhood.  The strange reason?  A forecast snowstorm that is supposed to bring down 4 inches of snow today, and 8 tomorrow.

Yes, 12 inches of snow in a weekend would stop traffic in this town, and I don't have a problem with that.  My problem is that we didn't get the snow.  We saw a half inch today, and almost all of it melted.  Maybe we will have more tomorrow, but right now, there isn't a flake in the sky.  Still, my children are huddling under blankets watching tv instead of being out with their friends.

When I was their age, I would have volunteered to walk five miles uphill in freezing weather to attend a valentine's party, a hockey game, a lock-in, or a ski trip.  I'm not getting a whimper out of these little couch potatoes.

I will say I did get out.  I needed hamburger buns for dinner, so I walked up to the store.  It was a nice stroll, very peaceful.  there wasn't anyone else out, except for a man trying to snowboard in his backyard.  He wasn't having much luck with the half inch of snow.

  • Yeah, yesterday's snow turned out to no big deal. Didn't melt out here in the Valley but the roads were clear. This morning however, is another story! It's coming down something fierce. We're expecting 15" to 25" in Winchester and I'd say we're on our way! I'd say if you want your kids to get out of the house, give them chores to do if they're going to stay home. They'll probably run out of the house.  ~Suzan
  • I take the forecasts with a grain of salt. They have to predict it that day for me to believe it now. Haven't you heard me say things like..."well when we had last years storm of the century"....
  • Sounds like you want another long vacation. :o)
  • I believe you must have snow now.  I have 18 inches sitting outside my door right now.  In fact, I get a $1000 fine for driving on MD roads right now.
  • frost is the problem we have right now  but no doubt more snow will come.

  • me too!

was so anxious about going out because of the "snowstorm" and I didn't even see a single flurry! But I think the weather is going to make up for it tonight and tomorrow.

*cringe* I shudder at the thought of all that snow that I will have to shovel off come Tuesday.
