  • No break from snow

Having missed twelve days of school because of snow has created quite a problem for the school board.  The scheduled snow make-up days are gone.  The teacher work days are now school days.  The school year has been extended, and the spring break is all used up.  Jim has been jesting that the kids would be attending school on Independence day, but that isn't fair or reasonable to extend the school year to the point where the 9 month employees have to do 12 months of work for 9 months of pay.

With this in mind, the school board has just announced that they will be extending the school days a half hour to make up the last time, and giving us back our spring break.  This is better than what my previous school system did - they told the kids that they would be goignto school on Saturdays.  Can you imagine what havoc that played on sports schedules?

It is starting to bother me that my kids havvve to be in school while the weather is ice, and home when the weather is bad.  It seems that it should be the other way around.

In other news, I wonder if I can drive to the comissary, and if it will be open when i get there.  Otherwise, we will be eating hash for dinner.
