  • Just like cruise

Jim has been gone for 12 hours now.  He left at about 6 this morning to go shoot in his match, and there is a picnic after the day's competitions, so I doubt I will see him before dark.  He used to skip the picnic, until he found out about the door prizes.  As you can imagine, the door prizes are more shooter stuff, and he wouldn't miss out on any of that (not that I can blame him, I wouldn't want to miss out, either).

This morning, the kids and I had a touchy conversation.  Nobody wanted to go to Mass, but nobody wanted to say that they didn't want to go to Mass.  I shrugged, and told them I was Jewish, I didn't care less about Mass, and Sophia tactfully suggested that it wasn't really like going as a family because her daddy wouldn't be there.  That was sufficient to convince Gordon that he would rather go back to bed, and we never did go to Mass this morning.

It has been horribly cold and wet today, but Jim was upbeat about shooting in the rain.  He said that most people don't train in the rain, so the wetness would give him an advantage over them.  You have to love that sort of optimism.  They kids mostly planted themselves in front of the tv, except for a couple of hours that they decided to go out and play with walkie talkies, and I will probably serve them breakfast for dinner.  Jim doesn't consider Breakfast for dinner a real meal, so we only have it when he isn't home.  I've just been cycling through the laundry and mopping the floors.

Other than the fact that Jim will be home at some point tonight, it's almost like the kind of Sunday we used to have when he was on cruise.
