Mother's Day luxury
Yesterday, Jim told me that the trailer was due for a wash and wax. He then hinted that he wasn't planning on doing the wash. I raised an eyebrow, and he quickly added that he didn't think I should have to do it either, as the next day would be Mother's Day. I took the hint, and called my children together, and notified them that their gift to me would be washing the trailer.
This went over well, because they love doing stuff like climbing on the roof and waving squeegees around and throwing wet sponges at each other. They are also looking forward to a new season of camping.
So, as I type this, the little darlings are washing the trailer. The lawn is well-sudsed, and their clothes are soaked (one would think that they would know to do this in swimsuits by now), and most of the water is staying on the outside of the trailer. Jim is off at the Navy-wide shooting matches (last week was only Atlantic Fleet-wide, he qualified to advance to the next round of competition), I suppose he will do the waxing when he gets home. Then, tonight we will go out for Chinese food. It sounds like a very lovely day all together.
In other news, last night I made a soup. It was a very different and interesting soup, but my husband liked it and said that he would eat it again. The soup was made with a soup base that I bought at the asian market. The label said it was "Pangsinigang Sa Sampalok", which sounds like Tagalog to me, and if anyone knows what that means, I would be very happy to find out. I like almost every kind of Phillipine food I've ever had, so I thought it would be worth a shot. The directions suggested that I needed 10 cups of water, to cook a kilo of any kind of meat and vegetables in the water, and add the soup base ten minutes before the end of cooking. It was a tasty soup, with a very strong suggestion of Worchestershire sauce (I didn't put in any other seasoning besides the soup base), very tangy.
I never have understood how some people can eat the same stuff over and over, year after year. I need new foods every now and then.

what you had is a soup dish called "sinigang". and it's main ingredient is tamarind. you can also use tomatoes and vinegar, and/or fresh-crushed tamarind if you want. for a spicier soup, you can drop one or two jalapenos. yumm
and you can have meat, fish, or prawns in that broth.
in the tropics (like the philippines) dishes such as those are meant to make people sweat, and thus cool them, after sweating.
i'm glad you enjoyed it. happy mother's day
Sinigang! Whoohooo!
I can see them there....all wet and having fun!
Glad you had a nice day!
