I was able to purchase a Lane Hope Chest for our daughters today for only $60 and it is funny that I even found it where I did as it wasn't at a plce that I would even consider having that as an item for sale, plus I was not even looking for one...yet. I had however recently bagan talking to the girls about my dream of having one for them, I told them what little I did know about them and their signifigance. I didn't think that having a Hope Chest would ever become a reality, but the Lord blessed my dream even before I talked to Him about it...

I want to know if anyone had a Hope Chest (or has one now they are filling for their daughter) and if you would tell me about it; for example what was placed in yours, or what are you putting in one for your children now, I have one set of china that I would love to put in the chest, but I have 2 daughters...is it ok to split up a set? Anything that you think may be helpful in teaching me more about this tradition I would be blessed to hear your story.

Thanks and may the Lord Jesus Christ bless each one of you!!!!

Kelly

Hello Kelly, I read your comment on Patty's Page about the seminars that you attended. My husband and I attended the "Weekend to Remember" one just a couple of years ago, after our children have left the nest and like you said it was wonderful. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Kelly,

I had a hope chest in my teen years.  I had china, linen, silverwear, and other odds and ends. You can split up china. Let me know how this works out for you.  God bless!

I received a hope chest for my high school graduation present.  I put in my high school memorobilia and college and then after I got married (6 days after graduating from college) I put my wedding things in it.....Now, I keep sweaters in it and my special baby clothes that my mom gave me in case I ever had a girl (NOT) and a few of my boys special baby items that I want to give them when they have children.  :)  IT is awesome that you found something like that ..... God truly put it in your path.  AWESOME!!:goodjob:

Kelly,

I love Lane Hope Chests!  How lovely that you bought your daughter one.  I think it is perfectly alright to split up the china between both daughters!  They can think of each other when they use it. :)

i also have started a hope chest for my dd sarah.  it's actually a trunk from walmart but....

i gave her some china, some glassware, a tablecloth, crystal candlesticks, and some christian books i felt were really important.

as for splitting up the china, it all depends on how much there is, imho.

i would love to start adding more to her hope chest but money is a bit tight now so i'll have to wait.

i have 2 other dds coming up also!:)

Kelly, that's so great about the hope chest! I didn't have one, and my oldest daughter (now 29) didn't, either, but I'd love to get one for my other daughters (16 and 12).

Come by my blog to see more about my 16-year-old's missions trip. Have a great day!

Blessings! I didn't have a hope chest, but I did put things away for when that special someone and that special day would come. You have a lovely site here, God bless you!
