Things Lisa and I are going to do to become more "intellectual":

1.  Watch foreign films...and yes, the British version of the Office counts as a foreign film.
2.  Start work on our book titled "The Cheez Wiz Never Goes Bad and Other Such Wisdoms" which is inspired by my grandma's endless supply of expired Cheez Wiz.
3.  Get monocles/pipes
4.  Decide which kind of wine represents smartness and then always have a glass of it sitting around.
5.  Make soaps
6.  Write poetry that people can snap to
7.  Listen to classical music, which technically I think Hanson's "middle of nowhere" cd counts, because I mean it came out many years ago.
8.  Always speak with our hand embracing our chins

I think we are on to something here...

Come Away with Me

Today was a fantastic day, which can only be fully explained in a bullet list, or better yet, a hyphen list.

-So I gave in to Elizabeth's pleas and decided to go skiing/tubing with her friend Michelle and Michelle's new boyfriend that she met on eharmony.  Might I note that Michelle and Elizabeth are still friends despite the fact that Michelle did sleep with Elizabeth's ex-fiance.  Needless to say, I was really excited to meet her.
-I don't think Michelle and her BF new what they were getting themselves into when they decided to let us come with them...but I sure bet they didn't think they would have a backseat that never shut up.  Seriously, I think I got sick of my own voice.
-When we found out how much fun it was to go down holding on to each other's tubes, we decided to find some people to go down with us.  So as we are going up to the hill, Elizabeth looks to the boys behind us and says "Hey, can we hook up with you guys"...and of course she means our tubes.  They agree, and then they told us that there would be about 10 other people with us.  Being the smart girls we are, Eliz and I got in front, not thinking that to start off we would need to be the ones pulling everyone behind us.  Let's just say I almost lost my left arm in that tubing fiasco.  Oh, and they were German Baptists.
-After about an hour, Eliz and I tired of tubing, and decided we would go to the lodge.  After eating a disgustingly fried lunch, we of course being the girls that we are, got out her laptop and spent the next 3.5 hours stalking people online, finding out who her blind date was, and watching 3 episodes of the office.  "I am 99% that that is not the real Ben Franklin."
-Michelle and her boyfriend finally came off the slopes, and ran for their second energy drinks for the day.  Now, by this time Elizabeth and I thought we wouldn't be able to be as entertaining on the way home, due to lack of sleep...but I think we did our job.  After an enlightening conversation on the appropriate time to start taking shots on a first date, we arrived home...glorious.
-Eliz is almost convinced to start a xanga under the name Regan Marison so that she can capture all her funny moments also...which delighted me to the extreme.  I think after her ridiculous blind date tonight, she will be forced to start one.

"There were two mutes in town, and they were always together."

That is the opening line of the book I just gave to Lisa to read.  I then fell to the ground in laughter as she read it to me. And then I tried to convince her to stay up with me all night, as I will need to be up in 4 hours.

Lucky for Lisa, I was still up and peering out the blinds as she rolled into Van Buren Village at 1:30 this morning. Lucky for me, we got to open presents as soon as she walked in the door.  I will wear my new "that's what she said" shirt everyday...or at least one day this week.

My stomach hurts from laughing, and I can't sleep, and this is the most awful entry of my entire 23 years.  But I am afraid that there will be no sleep for me tonight, as Lisa also got me a book from Marc's (<3) called "Get your dating game on: a field guide to playing for kicks or for keeps."  My favorite tip so far? "Do not knit....or make him a gift of any sort.  In knitting circles, it's bad luck to knit a gift for a man you are dating." If this section hadn't been preceeded by one that condone's having sex in rapid rotations, then perhaps I would take this to heart.

I just wanted to prove to Lisa that I could xanga so late, and it just isn't working out for anyone.  I have disappointed even myself.

So the other day we snuck my infectious grandma out of her room so that she could listen to my brother play piano.  We went down to the piano and as soon as he laid his hands on those keys, the old people came flocking to hear him (he likes to believe it is because he is amazing, I choose to believe it is because they are bored).  After he played some classical pieces, he played some old love song or something.  Normally, I would have continued rolling my eyes, but I spotted this elderly couple sitting near me.  As soon as Michael started playing the song, the man reached over and held his wife's hand throughout the entire song.  It was one of the most adorable things I have seen in awhile, and I just hope someday I have that...someone who reaches over to hold my hand even when I am old and wrinkly!
