I am going to leave all the details of
RedHairedCelt's visit to her. She promises to blog the adventures of her time up here with me. I am only going to post a couple of images here.
But I will say that we had a great time together, whilst she was up here promoting A Wager of Blood, and getting inspiration for her edits on Wilde Mountain Time (forthcoming). After forcing her to walk more than two miles through the woods just to see a waterfall, I took her around my fair town and showed her all the sites and highlights (including, of course, the town pillory). On a whim I thought it would be a lot of fun to show off some of the old cemeteries, and the farm lands. After that fun we headed up to the mountains where I showed her the best part of the state. I think she was duly impressed.
She even managed to get to the main purpose of her trip: a visit to the Hills Memorial Library to sign some books.
I hope she had as good a time visiting as I did playing tour guide.
Here are some of the pictures I took of her while she wasn't looking.

On the first day, I made her walk in the woods. She stopped to take a picture of this cool looking fungus. There she is up there taking the picture. Here's the fungus:

After about a half a mile we came to a lovely river, where Red decided she needed to sit on the bank to get the perfect shot. That's when she figured out there is still a lot of snow in these woods, and it's cold on the butt!

And then we finally made it to the falls. She got a bit verklempst (sp) sitting there. I knew how she felt. So did I the first time I saw it.

The next day I took her to the mountains. Here, Red takes a shot of the mountains, while I watch from the Jeep.

Franconian Notch had the desired effect.
Now don't forget to visit
Red's blog for the rest of the details. (She'll put it up soon.. as I type this, I think she's still in the sky).
Later!

I drove through that notch the day after the first big snowfall up there, all the way from Berlin. I have never in my life heard wind howl that way. Nothing is as beautiful as those mountains and the woods they contain.
I totally expected the caption for the last picture to be, "Here I am just before I plow into Red." She never saw me coming.
I'm glad you had a good time. I love the pics!
I'm glad to see you two had such a wonderful time. Your friendship seems to be a lot like my friendship with Jaime. We're practically sisters. In fact, she has been more of a sister to me than my actual sisters. lol That kind of friendship is beyond special. Hold onto it.
