  • Are we smart or just plain cheap?

I've given up on birthday parties.  No one comes.  Just my mom, and she comes up about once a month regardless.  So what I think we've decided to do for the little guy's 1st birthday is to make a (nut less) carrot cake.
And for a present?  I've got a giant box of medium-sized legos in the basement I haven't gotten out yet.  Am thinking of digging through it and wrapping up a bunch as his birthday "present."  Because really, he doesn't need any new, fancy toys.  He plays with his brother's toys regardless (he'll put a train on the track and move it back and forth).

That means we'd be spending zilch.  Well, unless we eat all the carrots, then I'd need to go buy more, but still.  I've got everything else.  Oh, I do want to snag some helium-filled balloons.  Those are always fun.    So, yeah, a grand total of maybe $8.
