| | In response to the question, "Why would the Pentagon consider moving the military bases out of DC?" Rumsfield's aide, Raymond DuBois said,
"If there were no defense agencies, no leased space in Northern Virginia, would the Pentagon have been attacked on Sept. 11, 2001? Yes," DuBois said. "To say, 'Aha, now we have lessened some ephemeral sense of being in the cross hairs' is not really accurate. . . . But efficiency and effectiveness -- those are essentially the two sides of the [base closing] coin."
So... are Pentagon is basically saying that, "Look, there's nothing we can really do to ward off a terrorist attack anyways, so we might as well save some money and consolidate our resources."
You know, one way they might not have to save so much money would be if they didn't waste all of it on contractors and fumbling the ball in Iraq!!!
It's a sad day when the real estate bubble begins to effect our military. |
