John and I have found a place to rest our rumps! YAY! We'll be living downtown Winnipeg. The nice part of downtown so don't worry. We'll be living in the historic exchange district (which means nothing to anybody who isn't familiar with Winnipeg.) We signed our lives away yesterday. Short of signing away our first born child the apartment is ours. Things should be totally squared completely this week and John can transport all our worldly goods starting on the 16th. John's Aunt and Uncle were kind enough to take a load with them today when they came through town. They live just outside Winnipeg so they'll store it and bring it to us when we get into town.
Because I'm forgetful when I get excited I forgot to take pictures of the apartment. We're on the fifth floor of the building. We can see the historic Walker Theater from our living room.
The building looks like this. It's a trapezoid. Our apartment is on the west side of the building.

Here is a floor plan with some mild editing on my part. Isn't it wonderful?!

Isn't it cute they put furniture in the floor plan? It's 922 square feet. With central air and a dishwasher. HALLELUJAH! Oh oh oh and cupboard space and counter space. Yay for a kitchen with space! And you'll notice there is stairs and an elevator. The stairs are the original marble stairs from then the building was built. They also still have a the original vault on the main floor which we can use for storage. Yes indeed we can store things in a vault. Oh and apparently my dad did upholstery in the building when it was an office building. Ooooo full circleness!
When I get pictures I will share them I promise.

Yay! How exciting! :)
Yay pretty new apartment with central air! Boo moving and boxes and such <3
Gotta love central air. Your new apartment is very cute!
That's a cool-looking building. Hope you guys enjoy living downtown. My friend who grew up in Montreal and Quebec City was shocked that in Cincinnati everyone wants the heck away from downtown. Where she was from, she said, downtown was where you wanted to be. I had to explain to her that that line of thinking probably wasn't healthy in Cincinnati. The city has designs on changing its inner city's image, and I hope one day they can, but right now their efforts have been kinda like shooting plastic BB's at a grizzly bear. But I'm sure there's a lot less redneck-on-redneck crime to worry about in Winnipeg's downtown, so congrats on the move
Yay!!! can't wait to see "real" pictures.....
So cute!!!! I've always wanted to live in a cute historical building - it's just like the movies! How awesome! ~ l
It looks very nice! Congratulations and good luck w/ everything! *hugs*
Oh what a fun idea!!! (turning my window into a table) I've never seen that. Hmmm.... It would be even cooler if I had a set of them to turn into bed side tables---but I don't think I can cut the one I have in half...
You're just full of good ideas.. You're really making me lean toward the table idea......
