    Two Birthday Girls

Today was the official birthday of my lovely mother-in-law, Willa.

Why, yes, this is your birthday cake.  And we put it inside your present.  How thoughtful of us.  :)

A big thank you to memmart1 for the strawberry work (and the strawberries).  Yummy!  We were able to surprise Willa with this cake.  Last year, we weren't able to celebrate with her on her actual birthday because we were heading for the hospital for my induction.

Here's a shot of the other birthday girl.

    "I'm eating chocolate AND sugar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

And here is her cake pre-party.  I took several angles so that everything could be seen.  Just so you don't wonder, the cake is supposed to look like a staircase.  Emerald loves the stairs and has radar for whenever the gate is down.  Kevin and I thought it was a pretty cute idea for a cake, so we ran with it.  Kudos, again, to memmart1 for the assembly of the bannisters, sprinkling of the sprinkles, and expert pink piping.

And, Aunt Abby added her own personal touch to the back of the cake for Little Miss Emerald.

Emerald thoroughly enjoyed the cake, and she was a much better recipient of ice cream than her older brother on his first birthday.

Of course, I have tons more pictures and videos that I will share sooner than later.  But, I'm beat.  I am confident that tomorrow will be a very edifying and encouraging Lord's day.  As LRH mentioned, all 6 of her children are presently in Eudora, and I couldn't be more thankful for that.  And, Emerald will officially be 1 tomorrow at 4:10 p.m.

    What a wonderful year!  :)   :)   :)

Wow, those are two very impressive cakes.  Nice work, Abby!  And what a great idea with the stair steps...you get the award for original cake idea.  Emerald doesn't seem to be at all bummed about not getting a strawberry cake of her own.  She's gonna be a chocolate kind of gal!

I really enjoyed the videos of the cousin fun from the previous post too.  It is just too cute seeing Moses and Calvin walking around holding hands and for such an extended amount of time.  You'd never believe that sometimes they have "issues" with each other!

I am sitting here 'wowing' over the cakes- Willa's exactly suits her- and how genius is that to put it inside her present!! Good to see a baby picture of Willa too- helps me see what she has contributed to your kids gene pool.

And....that is an AMAZING cake for Emerald! It is just perfect in every way! You guys did a great job and the frosting customizing  is Abby-fabby!

Glad the pictures are coming in stages so we can take them in and appreciate them. We feel as if we were there!
