I watch two great movies today.

The first was a mistake but it turned out great. The movie was called Martin Luther, so I thought it was about Martin Luther King Jr. When I saw that he was white, I knew that I had made a mistake. The movie was about Martin Luther in 1500s. It describes how the Christian Church was separated from the Roman Catholic Church. A single man, Luther, despite all the threats, expressed his views that the Catholic church in 1500s was not doing what the scriptures said. He was threatened. He won at last and changed the world. I learned to view the world critically and persevere what you believe is right. Both are important.

The second was the most striking movie I've ever seen in my life, "Hotel Rwanda". It's about the massacre happened in Rwanda in 1994, killing one million people. I cried.

This should never have happened in human history. Yet, it did and it don't only happen in Rwanda, it happens everyday in lots of countries. The UN and the powerful and rich Western countries did nothing to help. The tsunami killed a quarter millions and people all over the globe help. But why no body helped those in the massacre. Isn't a disaster caused by human easier to solve by nature? Or am I wrong?  "They watched the news and said, 'Oh, it's terrible' and continue eating"(Hotel Rwanda). They think that those Africans are worthless. Worthless? The people who think that just don't deserve to be humans.  Racial prejudice seems to have vanished from the world. But at the same time, it seems so near. "A black person has to be ten times as good as a white person to succeed" (Speech by Spike Lee, Miami University)  I believe that racial prejudice is obviously less severe than in the past but is still exist in many people's heart although they don't express. Some still feel that White are better than Black or people of color. I don't feel right to hear "People of color". White is also a color. White people can only not be called "People of color" unless they are transparent. I don't mean that I dislike any White people. Many of my closest friends are white. I just meant that I don't like racial discrimination. I don't see people from their color, but I see their hearts. Also, I think that it's shocking to see people in one country killing one another. People should never kill one another, let alone brothers in the same country. This is also true with Mainland China and Taiwan. Although Mainland China and Taiwan have an ambiguious relationship, the people of both land speak the same language and have the same culture and heritage. It's silly to fight against one another, because both will lose.

I believe that the world is fair in eternal perspective. People will all be judged. I did not feel hatred in me. Hatred killed those one million people and my hatred can't help save them. My hatred will never make the world better. Love is the solution. The manager in the hotel is smart so he saved more than 1000 people. But the more important factor is that he is very caring and loving. He couldn't help see his people being killed while doing nothing. Love changes everything. I highly recommend you to see "Hotel Rwanda". It changed me.
