18 Months......
Little Bugga Boo is 18 months old today!! I can hardly believe he's a year and a half!!! Andrew sure has brought a whole lot of joy and laughter to our lives.....alot of laughter!!
Tonight every time I put the laptop on my lap he would cry and then stick out is hands like, "Hold me". Of course I couldn't resist, so I did and we cuddled for awhile. He's now coming to me before bedtime just to chill out on my lap for a bit......I love it! He chatters away and sings and I soak it all in.

Brick do you think he could be a TSC recruiter? He plays with your magnets every day!
More to post later, but the net is slow and I am tired too!
PS......Kev and I killed a puff adder in front of the house on Sunday! I say "we" because really it was a collective thing......I spotted the snake and told Kev to kill it! :) The scary thing is that it was right on our driveway around where Andrew plays. I noticed the birds making a fuss and looked down and sure enough that fat thing was slithering right towards us! I grabbed Andrew and Kev grabbed the shovel and chopped his head off. Andrew was pointing and going, "Yaw", like he does when the cows are on the lawn! ha! I guess the snakes are out.........yuck!

Snakes in the classroom?
So one of the most frequent questions that I get when people come to visit or when we go home is,
“Do you see a lot of snakes?”
I always chuckle a bit because really in the past 6 years of coming/living in Botswana I really haven’t had the honor of seeing very many! I don’t have very many snake stories, but I did spy a puff adder once and called Kev to come kill it! Since having Andrew the new question turns a bit to, “Do you ever worry about Andrew and snakes?” I always tell people that I don’t really worry, but just try to be wise about where I let him play and keep him away from where they could be. Snakes usually don’t go looking for people and I am sure not going to go hunting for them so all total I’ve seen about 4 or 5 living snakes over the years. I do see a lot of “headless” snakes because usually between Kev, Michael Walker, and Pastor Jerry they kill them and chop the head. I always like to see them afterwards so that I know what they look like incase I have a run in with one I know which type it is. Secretly, I find them fascinating......from a good distance that is!
A few days ago Kev had told me they found a snake in the Jr Dome at the school. I didn’t think too much about it as that’s not the first snake that’s been around the school. Then that evening I was talking with Kristen, one of our summer volunteers that works in the Jr. Dome and got a first hand account of the snake that entered the school…….
Turns out one of the little boys (4 years) was going to the toilet. She said he walked back into the room backwards and said to her, “Miss, there is a snake the hallway.” and then he calmly went back to playing like nothing. Lucy and Kristen looked out and sure enough there was a snake, and it wasn’t exactly a small one! Lucy called for help and Kristen grabbed her video camera! She was telling me about how big it was and how its neck was all fanned out. I was like, “Really! I’ve never seen a cobra actually fanned out before!” Last night she showed me the video and I had to watch it twice I was so in awe of how big this snake was!!!
Her video starts out with the snake pretty much coiled up against a wall and it’s head was raised and it’s neck was fanned out. Not knowing a whole lot about snakes I know enough to know that when it’s raised up and fanned out…..it’s not a happy camper! It was indeed a Mozambique Spitting Cobra, a pretty frequent “visitor” on the property. When they feel threatened they spit their venom and often aim for the eyes. It was over 6ft long and was pretty thick! Kristen even managed to get the “big kill” on the video and it didn’t look as though it was easy to trap as it was hissing and spitting and fanning all over the place. As I was watching it I was wincing each time it went to strike. I wish there was a way I could upload the video as it was pretty amazing and impressive.
The scary thing was that it was IN the school and right next to the classrooms. Nathan, the little boy was telling Jessie, “My daddy always said if I see a snake not to run, but to back up slowly and not turn my back to it. He said never to scream either.” Here this 4 year old remained calm and cool just like his dad said he should! Praise the Lord that no one was hurt and that Nathan saw it an alerted the teachers before it made its way into a classroom full of small children!
Over the past week or so I’ve heard of lots of snakes around and being killed. I saw a small one crossing the road in front of our house the other day as I was driving to the Lackey’s house. It’s cold so they are coming out to get warm in the sun. I’ve told Nelisha to make sure she keeps an extra eye on Andrew in the yard.
Guess that’s another “snake story” to add to the books……..”The Snake Goes to School”

This is not the actual snake that was in the school, but a picture of the Mozambique Spitting Cobra that I grabbed off of google. This is what is was doing, but it actually looked a bit bigger than this one.

I've been in a music mood lately......I just love to have new worship music. I've been a long time fan of Hillsongs worship music. Their music is just so powerful and anointed. I put on that and within seconds a stressful day will turn into a sweet moment. I can just get into the presence of the Lord and let Him take it all away. I even notice if Andrew is crabby when I turn on some good worship he pretty much calms down and starts dancing. Many times you can find us "slow dancing" in the kitchen with his ear pressed tightly on my mouth while I sing. It almost puts him into a trance. :) I love to sing in his ear like that. Those are tender moments.
A friend of mine sent me a link to one of the new songs on Hillsongs new release, coming out in August called "Healer". Shew.....my eyes were so welled with tears I could hardly watch the video. The guy who wrote it is fighting cancer and was told he was pretty much going to die. He came home and wrote this beautiful song!

Upon previewing the rest of the album it is sure to move up there on my top played songs as it sounds amazing. So, go and check it out August 5th.....Hillsong Live- This is our God. One day I hope to get to Australia and go to the Hillsong Church and experience their worship first hand. Yet just one more reason while I need to come and see YOU right??!!!

Braggin……
I have to brag on my Andrew again today. He’s been such a good boy today. I mean, he’s usually very good, but today he was literally perfect for me! He was good in church, ate his lunch well, napped well, played well and obeyed well! If every day were this way, this mommy business would be a breeze! Ha! The past few weeks have been challenging off and on, but I do think that the culprit are two big molar teeth making there way down. Once those are through we’ll be done till the second molars come in.
I am amazed at how fast he is processing things lately. Today I said, “Andrew, do you want an apple?” and he said, “Appole” I did a double take and he said it again! He loves to count (though he only says “two and three”) and listen to be say the ABC’s. He also loves Sesame Street and the Wiggles right now. I think our Baby E days are over for now. I think he’s going to be very smart…of course every mom thinks that I am sure!
Another thing he loves…….Country Music……particularly Montgomery Gentry! Ha! Last night the interns came to play some domino’s and we were getting Andrew ready for bed. Luke put on some Montgomery Gentry and Andrew was dancing all over the place and clapping! Kev was like, “You got that from your mother’s side because you didn’t get it from my side!” We tested it with other music and he would stop, but as soon as the country came back on he would start in bee-boppin again!
While the past few weeks have had their challenges, they have also had many sweet and tender moments. I think Andrew is having a bit of “stranger anxiety” at times. He warms up quick to new people, but on his terms only. Till then it’s all about Mommy! He’s been extra cuddly with me and I’ve had a few nights where he’s actually let me rock him a bit for bed. He’s been waking off an on in the night. He seems to just need a bit of comfort and then goes right back down. I of course love those moments in the rocker. Today he sat in my lap for about an hour and we just played, looked at books, and hugged……I loved it! I know the Lord gives me moments like that to reward me. When Andrew hugs me on his own I know it’s because he really loves me……that’s special.

Having fun with Yogurt! (Love the hair!)

Could this be your famous face Brickie?
Eating an "Appole"

Currently Listening
The I Heart Revolution: With Hearts as One
By Hillsong United
see relatedFrom the Inside Out......
So this song has been on the #2 "most played" on my ipod since we were home in the US. Shew, it ministers to my heart so much and I just chew on the words......
A thousand times I’ve failed
Still Your mercy remains And should I stumble again
I’m caught in Your grace
Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fameYour will above all else
My purpose remains
The art of losing myself
In bringing You praise
Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fameIn my heart and my soul
Lord I give You control
Consume me from the inside out
Lord let justice and praise
Become my embrace
To love you from the inside outEverlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame
And the cry of my heart
Is to bring You praise
From the inside out
Lord my soul cries outMy favorite part is how it refers to Him as Everlasting and Never ending. As I listen to the song I can't help but let my soul soar! It's so true.....when we get our inside right, our hearts and souls, what comes out on the outside is beautiful!
What song has been your "most favorite" lately?
