  • Planning

We spent the weekend relaxing, recovering, a little work around the house, knitting, etc. It was nice. W. was home to do some things with the boys and help with some house tasks. I am about 1 pattern repeat (24 rows) plus the toe decrease away from finishing the 2nd Ribbed Lace sock! I cast on a week ago! I cannot believe how much faster this one has gone. Maybe I will get more efficient with this sock thing. It is a beautiful pattern. I hope it fits the recipient and that she loves it. Those things make me a little nervous. I want to knit for others. But I don't know that they will appreciate the product. Too much work goes in to these projects for them to be unwanted gifts.

I started working on the planning for next year with school. I will try to figure out when to do each subject first. Then take each individual subject and decide how to divide by amount each week. I will also have to study a couple of areas in great detail in order to be able to implement them. The one that is the most important and will be the most time consuming to prepare for is the writing program. I chose the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW). I think it will fit our needs and goals really well. It is a program that teaches *me* how to teach writing! I also have Teaching the Classics (TTC) for literature study and Harp and Laurel Wreath for poetry. So, I will be lost in curriculum this month!

I'm thinking about getting Teaching the Classics.  Actually, I've decided to get it...I just haven't ordered yet!! :)  I really need some help in the discussion department...it is so easy to send my children off to work and then check it (no interaction at all).

I'm also in a planning mode, so much work so little time!  I told my dh last night, after making a possible schedule, "I'm going to be doing school all day!"  He said, "GOOD!"  Has he forgotten already that we've been eating something different every night since school let out?  And he likes it?!
