I want to be his muse
If I could obtain immortality without living forever, I would achieve it by becoming a piece of art. I’m not talking about a stick figure doodled on a notebook paper, but it doesn’t have to be a painting or even anything that bears the likeness of me either. Whatever I inspire, it has to be his magnum opus, the work that defines his life. It has to be something that he pours all his talent and passion into. Whatever form it takes, I want it to tell our story or contain a hidden message only decipherable by me. And of course, I have to like the work as well.
I want to be who
- Harriet Smithson was to Hector Berlioz (Symphonie Fantastique)
- Mumtaz Mahal was to Emperor Shah Jahan (Taj Mahal)
- Amytis of Media was to Nebuchadnezzar (Hanging Gardens of Babylon)
- Clara Schulman was to Robert Schulman (All his work)
- Rose was to Jack in Titanic (That naked picture)
I once declared that I would marry the man who writes me a symphony. I'm really nothing but a hopeless romantic deep down.

aww K- what a romantic notion...
i think ALL girls (even those career oriented females) are hopeless romantics deep down ^.~ (in my opinion at least) i know i am.....sighhh
hopeless romantics deep down, but we live :) well, there isn't a choice.
All I want is to find a suit so memorably comfy I don't have to wear anything else.
Maybe I'm a failure as a romantic.
darn my musical incompetence
Does it matter if it is a 1 hour piece of freeform danceable electronica? I will title that piece MuseErato and it will start downtempo and chill with sleek feline basslines before moving to twisted hard bounce, but always be sexy in it's essense.
deep down inside we're all mad romantics, then reality sets in.
I want to paint you... wearing this... uh... asterisk... * .....wearing only this..
oh, karen.
Don't forget Allie and Noah from The Notebook! (He built that gorgeous house for her...) It's such a cheesy movie, but I adore it for that grand, romantic gesture..
Aren't we all?
"I once declared that I would marry the man who writes me a symphony. I'm really nothing but a hopeless romantic deep down."
I said something along those lines... and aren't we all hopeless romantic deep down? Actually, I prefer saying I'm a hopeful romantic.
*hugs*
what if he wrote you something Barber's "Adagio?" would that still be a turn on or too dreary?
that's the thing, even if a guy does something like write a girl a symphony, most women wouldn't appreciate the symphony, only appreciate the notion that he wrote one for her. in wooing efforts it might be successful, but the beauty of the piece itself would be unrealized. sidenote, it's hard to find a girl who will even go to the symphony, opera, or ballet nowadays (unless you're at one of those Symphony for Singles nights that's sponsored by your arts center).
I would like to appear as art, but mostly in the form of a statue. To me, there is no greater compliment or statement of importance than when a statue is made of you. Large, prominent, lasts for millenia. That's my idea of immortality--gotta get me some of that.
PS: You may want to add the qualifier of the symphony having to be of a superior quality. Otherwise you might have to marry some slomo tomorrow.
you want to be a holy priest to my bm hunter? that is even more than a muse, LOL
epic geek that i am, i just bought a Blizzard t-shirt
?? Humanoid
aren't you all
Titanic is the biggest pot of rotten cabbage I have ever seen. Pffffftah!
also- something that the laymen don't understand...when someone inspires an artist, it's really not about that person ( sorry to break your illusion)- the person is merely a catalyst, the pretext. It's really about the work; the "muse' is something other than-
in other words, you think your artist-lover is devoted to you, but in reality he is cheating on you with the work ( he may flatter your ego by saying you were the inspiration- but that's just so you'd leave him alone to his "masterpiece")- all those women you mentioned- they're merely accidental bystanders
It seems we have something in common. I, too, would like to find myself and my words within such immortal hearing. That even after death, my words should live on with some clarity, some unending meaning to readers far beyond my own life span. I wish to be worthy of such acclaim, though fame is not what I am yearning for--I long for immortal words.
I long to find myself in possession of some new truth, or new perception revealing truth. I want to say something worth saying. To live on in the mind. I long to see my work between bindings, on a shelf for all to view. To know that what I write is worthy of its bindings. Words that will breathe beauty and life and impart something treasureable to the reader.
And if my work happens to be inspired by a girl, so be it.
Seriously...and who wouldn't?
Let me get this right. You want a man to define his life with a work inspired by you? Get over yourself!
You're talking about a man's life here and you want to minimize it to suit your desires? What kind of person would wish that on her soul mate?
Let's say that your immortal beloved is a composer and he writes a symphony (that you inspire) and it's a huge success. It takes the music world by storm and many consider it his magnum opus. You're saying that that should be his pinnacle of success, that anything else he writes should not eclipse it unless it's inspired by you.
Inspiration comes from many places. Your desire to be the sole source of inspiration is not romantic - it's selfish.
Oh, and it's Schumann, not Schulman. Your geography stinks, too!
A very good wish, except I disagree with the Taj Mahal bit: that ruler did spend what, 10, 20 years to make it for his deceased wife, but it was all done on the backs of his citizens. Who knows if he ever even lifted a single brick to help build that building.
well, i'm not a ballet or opera lover, but it's interesting. i'm partial to chamber groups, quartets and orchestras, since that's what i play.
but for me... i don't think i'd need a big act (like writing a book dedicated to me) from my sig other to impress me. just doing the little things would be enough to show me her love. well, i guess cooking is a big thing for some girls. hmmm... maybe there are no such things as little things. =)
So the question is--if this person loves you enough to make you immortal, what do you do in return to show your love?
-ray leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Umm.. I can cook., And I own a blog!
Aw sweet
I'd go for a pebble. Not in so much that it is lifeless, but because its part of the cycle of the Earth and keeps getting 'reborn' (so to speak) as other rocks.
Blimey, nearly went all geological for a second there, that would have been boring as hell...
:o)
