What is your favorite verse and why?

My answer:

[1 Timothy 6:11]
But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.

Why?  It's my favorite because it sums up all that I want to pursue and all that I want to become.  It reminds, encourages, and even challenges me to pursue these things in my life.

Now, what's your favorite verse?  Why is it your favorite verse?  What drew you to your verse?  What have you learned from your verse?

(Please include the text of your favorite verse.  It can be found at http://bible.gospelcom.net)

I think I’ve had several favorite verses. :)

"The Lord your God is with you; he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing." -Zepheniah 3:17

This verse is beautiful. The thought that the Maker of the universe would take delight in something as small as me is incomprehensible. He loves me enough to quiet me with His love, to make me still when the world is crumbling around me. I am brought to a place of quietness, enthralled in His love, as He sings over me with gladness.

Wow, I don't know if I can follow either of your verses, but I'll certainly try. =) I have so many, but I think this one takes precedence:

"Though you shall face trial and tribulation, take heart! For I have overcome this world." John 16:33

This verse has spoken volumes to me over the years. To know that this depraved, decaying world, though it may try, has absolutely no hold on me has been a constant source of comfort and strength.

I was drawn to this verse at a time when many of my family members were dying within a short space of time. This verse was often all that kept me from doing the unthinkable. Through this verse, I have learned to be patient in trial, and to trust in God's awesome deliverence.

Thanks for this Nate! What a capital idea. =)

Nate... Our verses are nearly identical. =D

[2 Timothy 2:22] Therefore, flee from youthful passions, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

I agree with what you shared, Nate... This verse reminds me of what I'm called to pursue as a young man of God. It also reminds me of my need for my brothers and sisters in Christ; to keep me accountable and spur me on. =)

Then Mary said, "Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word." -Luke 1:38

This is my favorite verse [and it has been since I was about 11], because it shows the additude that I want to have every single day, with every single circumstance that I may go through. Accepting everything that He sends with open arms, saying "Behold, the maidservent of the Lord..let it be to me according to YOUR word."..just like Mary.

I love the rest of yours, too. =) thanks, Nate. =)
