  • Chicago Conference

I recently attended a photography conference in Chicago and man is my head full!  I learned so much valuable information and met so many inspiring photographers that I can't wait to apply everything I learned to my business (I'm finally accepting the fact that to succeed as an artist, I must first succeed as a businesswoman).  Just wait fans - a new Nicole Nichols (hmm...or Nikki Nichols?) Photo Biz will be taking off soon!  And to keep you entertained while you wait, here are some of my pictures taken before the conference in downtown Chicago as well as some fun shots at the airport.

  • Paradise in Paradisus

I'm married!! My wedding in my hometown of New Orleans was amazing, here's a link to some photos by my awesome photographer and friend of mine, Adam Houseman:
    http://weblog.xanga.com/ahpphotos/650078160/nicole-and-steven-get-married-in-new-orleans.html

I've officially returned home from my honeymoon at the Paradisus resort in Dominican Republic!  Steven (my husband! - still getting used to that word) and I took a much needed relaxing honeymoon somewhere we rarely get to see anymore - the beach!  Unfortunately the rain and wind (check out the palm trees below) prevented us from being able to sail, snorkel, and lay out as much as we would have wanted to, but their banana-mamas and pina colados certainly helped keep us distracted from the weather.  We met a great couple also on their honeymoon and when I heard their story about their wedding photographer turning out to be a total unprofessional who even missed half their wedding, I insisted on taking some portraits of them so they at least have some great honeymoon pics together.  We had an incredible wedding weekend and honeymoon and can't wait to do it again! (not the re-marrying part, hehe, maybe 10 yr. anniversary if not sooner)

  • It's Carnival Time!

I recently spent 2 weeks in New Orleans, my hometown, enjoying my favorite holiday - Mardi Gras, and finishing up the details of my wedding!  I haven't had as many photo shoots lately as I've been spending most of my time planning my upcoming wedding in New Orleans, as well as working on prints and albums for clients.  So I was excited to cover the parades again (4 years now) with local photographer, Vikki Stanwycks, and to spend Mardi Gras day with my new wonderfully-amazing camera, the Nikon D300!  If you want to see a lot more pictures of Mardi Gras, check out my online photo albums at:

  • Karla's Family at the Park

Karla is a photographer whom I used to work with at a portrait studio in Cherry Creek.  I was honored when she asked me to take her family portraits because photographers are the pickiest when choosing someone to capture them on camera.  Her family is so nice and they were willing to do anything I asked no matter how funny it felt or how dirty the ground was.  Thanks Karla and family!
