Shenadoah
Just got back from Shenandoah National Park. We stayed in a lodge called Big Meadows located in the, um, Big Meadows region of the park. The mountains were beautiful, the roads winding and sometimes rather scary. I wanted the kids to explore the wide open lands of Virginia, and I must admit even I was amazed at the beauty of the Appalachian mountains.

I'm also glad I took the in-law; I'm not sure what I'd call him, as he is not my father-in-law--Ender, will PLEASE read the entries and not skim them? He is M's son's father-in-law. M's father--the man who would be my father-in-law--died thirty years ago. Anyway, as I said, I'm glad I took him. After hearing his stories of visiting every continent on earth, and the various different countries he has already visited--he has been traveling to the US on business since the 60s--it was a relief to have taken him somewhere he has never been.

Anyway, I will try to post more about our trip. I might even put up a protected post--I'll let you imagine why--for my regular readers. If you want to read the posts, give a holler!

Looks beautiful. For our next trip my wife and I were considering heading East instead of West this time. Like the Smoky Mountain area. I think visitors from Japan appreciate our national parks because the land scape is on a different scale from what they have over there. (although I haven't been to Hokkaido yet).

I'm really offended that you think i just skim your entries. I DO read every word. Sorry for being human and making a mistake because I must have read it wrong. If you have a timer for your website for how long people are on it, you'd see that i do read everything. From the way it sounded in your entry, you seemed really nervous about who was there as a son-in-law would feel when his parents-in-law come around. When I went back to read it again, I see that I was mistaken. I guess we all can't be perfect.

btw, i had a weird dream last night and you were in it. We were on a train in japan during the winter. It was an old train that ran through rural towns. And we were talking in Japanese. I was telling you how I moved because my dad got a job at a different town. And before I got off the train you told me that you had to teach me yet another important lesson. You said that there were many different kinds of people in this world. And then the train left the station without me.

My husband and I were there in the Big Meadows last year...saw the tame deer all over the place as well as some black bear and her three cubs.
