| | One of the challenges of a web log is finding the time to keep it up. I confess that time management wasn't my best subject in school [seriously, maybe seminaries should start offering time management training!] Like everyone I live with a lot of competing demands. What I am trying to learn as part of my spiritual practice is that I am not responsible for doing everything that everyone asks me to do. There have to be limits, and only I can set them. The same is probably true for you.
What happens for me is that I fear that someone will be disappointed with me if I am not able to do what they ask of me. The truth is that if I give an honest and caring no, that one will probably find another way to get his or her need met quite well another way. So it is with this blog. If I do not write every day, I am sure that you have other sources to stimulate your reflection.
One of my favorite sources is the magazine Spirituality and Health. I am a charter subscriber and have always renewed for the last---h-m-m, I think about ten years now. Last year I mistakenly thought I hadn't renewed and I renewed twice!
It is the single magazine that I read from cover to cover every month without fail. I also keep up a regular email correspondance with the editor, Stephen Kiesling, who is a stellar writer as well as a good editor and an honest man. Unfortuantely, the magazine is in a precarious situation and needs more subscribers. Jim and I are going to send several gift subscriptions for Christmas.
I invite you to check out the web site, which has many resources and articles that will give you a flavor to find out whether Spirituality and Health is right for you. You can link to them here: http://www.spiritualityhealth.com .
By the way, if you're reading this log regularly, I really would welcome you to write your thoughts and comments and post them to the site. This doesn't have to be a monolog blog! Blessings, Marja |
