  • Shadows cover my entire view, shading all the light.

One more step, another breath... it seems to take all my might.

The silence is deafening. Helpless I feel.

God I need answers, I need to know your will.

Heart desires. Burning passions to die over and over again.

No matter how many times it seems... I will never understand.

You gave them to me. They are part of Your plan.

Then why can't I allow them to take full command?

Good! You said it was good. Part of Your design in me.

Where should I go, what should I do – oh, that I may just be!

Identity seems to fade like memories from long past.

Who am I? What shall I do... how long will this last?

Tears fall and soothe the ache that deepens with each sigh.

Lord, will I ever know the answers... the reasons behind "Why"?

Why do You seem so silent, Lord? Your voice I want to hear.

Full of tender mercies and grace to know that You are near.

How far away you seem, my God. The distance oh, so wide.

When did this space become so vast... did my passion die?

Where are You, Lord, when my heart feels naught but pain?

Empty, silence and lifeless heart wonders: Will it be for gain?

Only eternal, lasting gain will forever be,

molding and shaping my dramatic heart for Thee.

Let go! Let God! So easy to simply say.

When it really comes to life? By dying every day.

Daily dying to myself, my wants, desires and things.

Choosing to trust that He knows best, my Jesus and my King.

Broken hearts. Broken clay pots have one thing the same.

Healing comes from the Master Potter... the very reason He came.

Nothingness feels like lost identity, unless filled with something new.

Jesus come... mold me and fill me with nothing less that You.

  • Summer travels...

So we are leaving this morning for Georgia to arrive for the rehearsal dinner for Brian and Jenny's wedding which is on Saturday. Some friends of ours are also going down and their daughter and I will be serving for the rehearsal dinner which, since it includes all out of town guests, numbers around 96 people. So I am sure it will be really busy and tiring tomorrow night. Especially after ten hours of car traveling... but I am looking forward to napping in the car to catch up on some much needed sleep after a rather busy week. Saturday is also the wedding day of two friends of mine, Beth and Aaron. I am sorry to miss their special day but am so excited to see how God will continue to use their relationship as they commit to spending the rest of their lives serving Him together. Weddings are rather amazing things... the whole picture that God chose to give us of marriage and comparing it to Christ and the church is so incredible.

On Sunday, I will fly out of Georgia and get to DC for my week of Institute of Photographic Studies. Words cannot describe how thrilled I am to be back in DC.. and being able to take pictures all week at that!! *smile* I am literally tingling with excitement to be in the "city of living history" and see all the amazing sites again for the third time. Although it will be "Arianna's" first time to photography dear, Washington! I am so thankful for this opportunity and can't wait to see what the Lord is going to teach me and how He will use this to grow my faith and even develop [no pun intended, *grin*] my photography skills to further His Kingdom through the gift that He has given me. I do know that over all, it is an intense week... covering a lot of ground and lots of information and then learning to apply it.
    Prayer Requests:

Safe travel, safe luggage and smooth flights. Driving to GA today for ten hours and then flying to DC on Sunday and flying back to Indiana on July 28th.

That I would be able to comprehend everything that God wants me to learn and even more important that I would be able to effectively learn to apply it.

All the attendees at IPS would have unity in Jesus, build good relationships through out the week, encouraging each other throughout classes and out on photo shoots.

The weather would be clear and good for photo shoots and that the heat wouldn't be overbearing as we will be doing a lot of walking daily to different photo sites.

Thank you for your prayers! Meanwhile, today was a record-high-heat work day. It was rather hot outside and its amazing [or maybe not so amazing] how fast you can get dehydrated... we were drinking lots and lots of liquid and even had some random water fights. It felt so good! Anyway, it is the wee-hours of the morning and I am heading to bed.

    Choose to trust Him,

EDIT: The thing I love the most about blogging is that you can very easily look back at what was going on a year ago or two years ago and see what the Lord was teaching you. It is always so astounding to me how the same lessons or same verses will hit me the exact same way a year later at the same time -- but dare I say, it is in a deeper level and more faith involved as I continue to grow in the Lord. This really comforted me today. God is so kind.

  • Happy birthday Elli!!

Today is my dear-kindred-spirit-friend and confidant, Elli’s birthday.

There is so much I could say about Elli… her sweet spirit, her loveable laugh, how she will always listen to me, and how we could talk for hours about anything and everything, her submissive and trusting heart and of course the way she encourages me to better myself. But when it comes down to it:

I like her because she smiles at me and means it.” - Anonymous

Throughout the last four years I have been blessed by Elli’s smile during so many memories… sleepovers, talking till 3-in-the-morning, BSF nights, meeting in random public places, car trips, listening to books on tape or fun musicals, seeing plays and going to the Theater, girl nights, dressing up, English Country Dances, weddings, planning ideas, the list could go on and on -- But I truly thank the Lord for a friend that has become like a sister to me. One who desires to serve the Lord with her whole heart and chooses to delight in the small tasks of life. Elli works and serves at two different jobs, is a bible study leader during the school year and still finds times to bless those around her. I love the way that Elli reaches out to people, even if she has only known them a short while, she finds ways to include them or make them feel welcome. Elli is also so gifted - a seamstress, is very organized, loves to cook and cook and bake and bake, crochets, sings and I don't-know-what-all. [She sounds like an accomplished lady in my book, Mr. Darcy!]

Thank you for your dear friendship, Elli, dear! May the Lord richly bless you for the many ways you bless my life continually.  Keep seeking Him with your whole heart and He will grant you your heart’s desires! I am glad we can walk together on the road of life toward our perfect home in heaven! May our friendship always glorify the Lord and draw us closer to Him.

    Love,

    Kristi

  • Summer time...

Today is a Saturday... which means that I have and will continue to spend the day doing any or all of the following: sewing, cleaning, laundry, writing, editing pictures, downloading pictures, uploading pictures, computer stuff, dishes, working out, journaling, etc. I believe I have mentioned it before, but I simply love the Saturday-at-home feeling of getting stuff done. Today is no exception and since I have a few moments to spare I thought I would go ahead and give an update of summer activities or events. Honestly, I feel like the summer will be over before it has begun... next week our family is going down to Georgia for a wedding and then I will fly out from there to Washington DC for a week of Photography Institute and then spending a few days with a dear friend. Then when I get back it will be almost August which at this moment looks like it includes a weekend family getaway along with another week of house sitting [and there was much rejoicing]. Then everyone starts to go back to school...
Anyway... between now and September there are several things I must and need to get done. Lord willing, I will be able to get my priorities in line and then be able to make some decisions about this fall. Where has the time gone?

    House sitting:
As my readers know, I had two house sitting jobs so far this summer and I enjoyed both of them immensely. Not just because I get to serve and bless friends of mine while they are away on their trip, but also having the time of quiet and peace and hours upon hours to just read, journal, take naps, long walks and watch some movies. I enjoy having the time to think through things and write down what the Lord is teaching me or what my heart is feeling.

    Photography:
I have had two different photography shoots this summer. Both mother/daughter groups that I have taken pictures for in summers previously: Rosebuds and Kings Daughters. They are so much fun to take pictures of, especially the King's Daughters... a group I was a part of for over 6 years. There is nothing like taking pictures of girls who are all dressed up and dying to pose for you. Sadly, we never have enough time. We had about 45 minutes and we took over 275 pictures! Quite impressive if you ask me, for a group of eleven girls taking "a turn" about the IMA Gardens downtown. I am posting a few of my favorites. More Rosebuds pictures go here. And more Kings Daughters go here.

    Independence Day:
Traditionally, over the last six or so years we have gone to Conner Prairie the week of the Fourth. But this year, sadly, we did not go. [To my heart's utter disappointment]. Anyway, we ended up having my adopted-Murray-family over. First we went to the Noblesville parade which Timothy got to ride Faith in for the first time. That was quite an adventure, since Faith was a little unsure about it all and we were running late, and I was trying to get her "hair" done in our limited ten minutes before the parade started. Thankfully, the rain held off and we had a lovely time giggling and commenting about all the random-crazy-interesting things in the parade. Afterwards we had a very nice dinner and then headed downtown to watch fireworks with other friends: the Jones' and the Adams and several others too. It was very nice.

Thus concludes my summery update so far. This week has been rather full and adventurous, life is never dull that is for sure. But God is so good and faithful, even through the pain and difficult times. He amazes me with His love and the way He delights in me, His daughter. It has been wonderful to be a blessing to others around me, as the Lord provides me with continual opportunities to be a minister of His love. This week I was able to meet and bless a Vietnam Veteran who works at our "Y" and thanked him for serving our Nation. We had a great conversation and this morning I was able to bless him with a card and gift which he was pretty near speechless and astounded. He thanked me over and over saying: Thank you Kristi! Thank you! That was the best gift anyone has ever given me. I feel so blessed. Wow, I can't believe it! How sweet of you.
I share this not to say that I am some amazing person or anything like that but it really made me think... it was a small, somewhat simple gesture of thanks that had a huge impact. If we all did something so simple like giving someone a card or note of encouragement or even a smile and a How are you today?, how would the world be impacted for Christ? If we reached out beyond ourselves and thought about others with an enternal perspective of How can I share Christ's love to someone today? How many people would really see a difference in us and Jesus is then glorified through our actions.

Choose to bless. Choose to be Jesus to someone.

    Choosing His love,

  • Lions and Tigers and Bears...

    ...Oh my!

Although it was more like: Lions, polar bears, rhinos, giraffes, flamingos, kangaroos, etc. etc. etc.

A few Saturday's ago, while I was still house-sitting, my friend Mrs. Adams invited me to go with her for a "morning at the Zoo". Their family has year passes and they get special invitations to go early in the morning before the Zoo opens to the public, providing a wonderful opportunity to see the animals wide awake and really active! Mrs. Adams, also being a picture taker, thought we should go on a photo shoot! Of course, I was delighted to have such an invitation. *smile * It was quite fun... the day was perfect and the animals were amazingly great. I have so many disappointing memories at various Zoo's growing up, when the animals were just laying there in their cages and doing nothing. Thankfully, that was not at all the case this Saturday morning. Mrs. A's camera is the same as dear, "Giovanni". [I miss him... tear] But "Ari" did quite loverly with her first wild animal photo shoot. *grin* The Zoo also provided a sweet little breakfast that we were able to enjoy after our several hour walk and photo shoot. We got lots of pictures... of course, since that was the goal. But also enjoyed viewing God's amazing creation in action and having sweet conversation along the way.

Isn't it wonderful when God gives us little glimpses of heaven?
Sweet fellowship, a beautiful day and His glory in creation!

    He is good,
