| | Daniel and I just got back from babysitting the Frich kids. We had mac and cheese for lunch, and popsicles afterward. Then we played outside, had pizza for dinner, and our choice of ice cream and popsicles after. Naturally, Savannah and I made the only sensible choice. (They had chocolate ice cream!!) We watched Lorna Doone, which the Friches hadn't seen before, and later we watched the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I for one, liked it a lot. Johnny Depp was a good Willy Wonka. It didn't follow the book as closely as the old movie did, but it had a good deal of humor. For instance: Prior to this, Charlie had turned down Willy's offer to make him his heir, on learning that he would have to give up his family. He got a job as a shoe shiner, and the scene opens with him shining a guy's shoe. They chat for a while about the factory. "Have you ever seen Willy Wonka?" "I met him!" Charlie said. "Really? What did you think of him?" "Well," Charlie said thoughtfully, "at first I thought he was great, but later he turned out to be not-so-great. And he had a funny hair-cut." "I do not!" Willy said indignantly. Well, gtg! |
