I don't find Christmas materialistic ENOUGH...which just means that I was spoiled as a child and don't get nearly the amount of shit that I used to.....so I guess that means I'm an ass but so bit it

No really, the holidays have always been about being able to see family for me. The gifts were nice but it was being in a warm house with crazy food, playing video games with the cousins or Taboo after dinner or going to a movie as a great big group. As much as you would never be able to tell, I like being around people I like during the holidays, which part of the reason living here has sucked so much.

Considering what organized religion has been doing to religion, especially, lately ... I think mink coats and vintage Champagne are in order for everyone.

I think my mom's family focuses too much on materialistic things, so therefore, Christmas has always meant out-gifting someone else. Which is retarded, really. Unfortunately, I know a lot of people who feel that Christmas as a whole is overrated, and we should just visit our families "just 'cause" instead of needing a holiday as an excuse to "have to" go out and visit them. But, I'm a cynical b*tch, so...yes.

Its a personal choice. I love christmas, so so much but only since I had kids. To see their bright little grins on the morning and watch them open presents together, is so awesome. Materialistic or not, christmas is what you make of it.
