Which do you prefer to live in: suburbs, big metropolitan city, or rural? Why?
At various times I enjoy spending time in all types of areas. Some of my favorite places to visit I wouldn't want to live in. I learned that from my time living in SoMa in San Francisco.
As for where I prefer to live, I can not say based on the categories in the question. It's about the place and the people.
I do not know if there is one perfect place for me to live (Austin was definitely where I was happiest), but I know I am not yet ready to settle down.
I just answered this Featured Question, you can answer it too!

I prefer to live where I live now: on the edge of the rainforest high above the Caribbean sea on a tiny island of extraordinary beauty. I wouldn't mind living in Bali, in Candidasa, and I might move there one day. Cities I've lived in that I love are London and Jerusalem and if I ended up in one of them, that would be great too.
Settling down. Some people make a commitment to do so, marriage-house-pregnant inside a year, some people just realise in retrospect that they have been where they are a while and seem to have settled down.
Rural areas. I don't care for crowds of people, I dislike traffic, and I love the earth and trees. I don't mind visiting NYC, but after a week in the city, I just want to hug a tree.
Rural area not too far from a big city.
I'm not quite ready to move from the big metropolitan city. I love people and while most drivers are totally inconsiderate of pedestrians, I love having the restaurant choices, theatre, and big city events. It helps that my big metropolitan city is on Lake Michigan.
