  • Showing the Love

A little gratitude is in order.

Thank you all for your birthday wishes, despite Little Bitch, it was a wonderful birthday and the party continues (I celebrate for a month).

Gratitude is a funny thing. Saying "thank you" just to be polite is nice, but saying (and, better yet, showing) "thank you" when you really mean it, is even better. Even for something small it is just nice to be appreciated.

I have a philosophy when it comes to interpersonal relationships in general*†.

    • If you are interested in people, people will find you interesting.
    • If you appreciate people, people will appreciate you.
    • If you are nice to people, people will be nice to you.
    • Conversely, if you are mean, disinterested, or unappreciative, you can pretty much expect that back.

Oh, sure it isn't new or revolutionary, after all some variation of this exists in most religious philosophies, not to mention the "Law of Attraction" (as it applies to relationships/psychology not necessarily Physics).

Of course, going along with that, is one more little point:

    • What you allow you encourage.

If you permit someone to treat you poorly, they will continue to do so. You don't have to raise your voice or get violent or plot and scheme. Simply state in a calm voice, "your behavior is unacceptable to me." Then, walk away. Then, come here and vent (oops, that might just be me). It works amazingly well.

Not sure why I felt the need to post this, other than perhaps, I needed a reminder.

Regardless, life is good, and I am happy. The open road is beckoning seductively, and I am ready to be seduced. Of course, three more weeks of nose to the grindstone, then I'm free.

*Toxic relationships notwithstanding. Some people are just bad for each other and you should know when it is time to purge your life of people who are toxic to you.

This is a general philosophy, and not everyone will follow the pattern, as one size does not fit all.
