Later Than You Think

I heard about a young boy who happened to awake at midnight. He listened to the old grandfather’s clock strike out the melody of midnight—one, two, three, four . . . and on to twelve. But something went wrong with the old clock. It kept on striking . . . 13 . . . 14 . . . 15 . . . 16. The boy became alarmed and he ran into his father’s bedroom.

He startled his father with these words, “Daddy, I just heard the old clock strike 16. It must be later than it’s ever been before.”

I feel like that young fellow—IT’S LATER THAN IT’S EVER BEEN BEFORE. There’s no time to waste . . . no time for frivolity . . . or worldly pursuits. It’s TIME to seek the Lord.

Yes, IT’S LATER THAN IT’S EVER BEEN BEFORE!

                    Seek ye the LORD

while he may be found,

call ye upon him while he is near:

Let the wicked forsake his way,

and the unrighteous man

his thoughts:

and let him return unto the LORD,

and he will have mercy upon him;

and to our God, for he will

abundantly pardon.
