| | Today for lunch/dinner, Dalip made some stuffed parathas. Click on this link and you can see what they are. Instead of stuffing them with potatoes, he stuffed them with onions. I ate mine with yogurt and an Indian pickle. Mmmmm good!

No matter how strong, bold and “manly” we like to think we are—all of us are often . . .
LIKE SHEEP

A friend of mine was talking about a summer he spent in the mountains of Montana working with a herd of sheep. Let’s hear him in his own words:
“I was about sixteen that summer” he said, “and when my friend’s father asked us both to spend a couple of weeks with him tending sheep, we accepted. It was an opportunity to ride through the hills on a horse, to hunt, to fish, and to just be part of the great outdoors.
“I’ll never forget that summer. I had loved sheep before, but now I appreciate them even more. For one thing, they needed us. But more than that, they loved us. In a way, those sheep were like children. As long as we were around, everything was all right. But if they couldn’t see us, they became uneasy and frightened.
“One night we had the flock all bedded down in a little clearing in the forest, and we were asleep ourselves. Suddenly we heard the sheep milling around. Then they began to bleat in fear. The sheepherder knew there must be a bear nearby. So he got up and just walked among the flock, simply talked to them, assuring them. . . .And in just a few minutes the sheep settled down. I was deeply impressed. Although that sheepherder was just a very common man, the sheep knew he loved them. And they responded totally to his love.”
Shipmate, I think at times we all feel like sheep: frightened, uneasy, panicky. But when the Shepherd speaks to us, everything’s alright. We know His voice. We trust Him. We love Him. And our fears subside.
