My brother, Marlin, and I ~
We were ten years apart in age.

And another one of us ~

ARE ALL THE CHILDREN IN?
~ Author Unknown
I think oft times as the night draws nigh
Of an old house on the hill.
Of a yard all wide and blossom-starred
Where the children played at will.
And when the night at last came down
Hushing the merry din,
Mother would look around and ask,
“Are all the children in?”
‘Tis many and many a year since then,
And the old house on the hill
No longer echoes to childish feet,
And the yard is still, so still.
But I see it all, as the shadows creep,
And though many the years have been
Since then, I can hear mother ask,
“Are all the children in?”
I wonder if when the shadows fall
On the last short, earthly day,
When we say goodbye to the world outside,
All tired with our childish play,
When we step out into the Other Land
Where mother so long has been,
Will we hear her ask, just as of old,
“Are all the children in?”

Happy Birthday, Marlin!
He's gone ~ but definitely not forgotten!

One year when I was back home, Marlin and I went shopping. This particular store had playing music over their intercom system. I was humming along and then I said, "Is that Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain?" He replied, "Yes." I don't know where I knew that from, but I must have heard it at one time. That's the song I have playing today. It reminds me of a special date in time with my brother. Willie Nelson recorded it . . . here are the lyrics ~

Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain
Words and Music by Fred Rose
In the twilight glow I see her
Blue eyes crying in the rain
When we kissed goodbye and parted
I knew we'd never meet again.
Love is like a dying ember
Only memories remain
Through the ages I remember
Blue eyes crying in the rain.
Now my hair has turned to silver.
All my life I've loved in vain.
I can see her star in heaven,
Blue eyes crying in the rain.
Someday when we meet up yonder
We'll stroll hand in hand again
In a land that knows no parting -
Blue eyes crying in the rain.
