Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come. Psalm 71:18

Continue Upright

The prayer of the upright is his delight.

Proverbs 15:8

son praying2

This is as good as a promise, for it declares a present fact, which will be the same throughout all ages. God takes great pleasure in the prayers of upright men; He even calls them His delight. Our first concern is to be upright. Neither bending this way nor that, continue upright; not crooked with policy, nor prostrate by yielding to evil, be you upright in strict integrity and straightforwardness. If we begin to shuffle and shift, we shall be left to shift for ourselves. If we try crooked ways, we shall find that we cannot pray, and if we pretend to do so, we shall find our prayers shut out of heaven.

Are we acting in a straight line and thus following out the Lord's revealed will? Then let us pray much and pray in faith. If our prayer is God's delight, let us not stint Him in that which gives Him pleasure. He does not consider the grammar of it, nor the metaphysics of it, nor the rhetoric of it; in all these men might despise it. He, as a Father, takes pleasure in the lispings of His own babes, the stammerings of His newborn sons and daughters. Should we not delight in prayer since the Lord delights in it? Let us make errands to the throne. The Lord finds us enough reasons for prayer, and we ought to thank Him that it is so.

C.H. Spurgeon

One of my prayers is for myself to stay on God's path so He can help others through me.

Unbelievable prayer is still ongoing in our church family. Yesterday, our worship leader was out sick (he had been sick 25 times in 24 hours!), the main pianist, our french horn player, and several of the cast for the Easter play. As we approach this Easter production (which satan does NOT want to happen!) we have been pressing in harder...because God wants to change lives, and reach people in an eteranl way!! You can be sure...no shifting or shuffling...but a staright line to the Father!!!! We are claiming victory because He promised it!!! :celebrate:

I have never heard of a fwren bird ~ did a google ~ could only come up with a fairy wren.  But I chose my user name because I love birds, the wren is about my favorite and "fwren" does mean "friend" in birdspeak.    :blushing:  I have a little birdhouse in my home that says "Welcome Fwrens" on the front of it.   :birdie:

Okay, I think that fwren.jpg is a shortened word for fairy wren.  Thanks for showing me.  I had never seen pictures of fairy wrens before.

What a beautiful pic! I'm so glad that we can go to the Lord in prayer and we don't have to have a college education to do it. He just wants to hear from His children.

Love ya, Darlena

Hi Caroly, I did a post on prayer this morning as well- in Matthew 6, Jesus first tells us how not to pray, then how to pray, and finally he warns us of the one great condition of praying effectively and of approaching God with confidence.

I saw that you stopped by my sight.  Regarding your post for today:  It' too bad that more people today aren't as serious about their faith as Charles Spurgeon was.  He was a great man of God.

My prayer is that our Good God sees my intention of not wanting to bend....but mea culpa, mea culpa, I am human and there have been many times I folded...not just bent!  I am still a work in progress and trust He continues to mold me,  in spite the obstacles He allows to beset me.

The prayer of the upright is his delight. Proverbs 15:8

AMEN!!  That kind of goes along with my post today. I'm asking people to share answers to prayers they've had, or tell about times when you have no doubt God was speaking to you.

Wonderful post!!  So true!  We know that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us with groanings that we don't understand.  Nothing should hold us back from talking with our Creator and Savior!
