Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come. Psalm 71:18

HOT OFF THE PRESS

**UPDATE ON KEVIN**

“Hi!   Just wanted to let you know that I just found out that Kevin was flown back to Tucson today and is in a rehab center there getting all the same therapy that he was getting in San Diego.  He is happy to be back home and was happy to see his dad.  Already some of his friends have been to see him and this too will help in his recovery.  Please continue your prayers so he will continue to make progress.  Although he is only making baby steps, he is making progress.  Jan told me that the speech therapist has cleared Kevin so he can now drink water and other liquids.

Gratefully, Clare”

"Through," Not Engulfed

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
(Isaiah 43:2)

Bridge there is none: we must go through the waters and feel the rush of the rivers. The presence of God in the flood is better than a ferryboat. Tried we must be, but triumphant we shall be; for Jehovah Himself, who is mightier than many waters, shall be with us. Whenever else He may be away from His people, the Lord will surely be with them in difficulties and dangers. The sorrows of life may rise to an extraordinary height, but the Lord is equal to every occasion.

The enemies of God can put in our way dangers of their own making, namely, persecutions and cruel mockings, which are like a burning, fiery furnace. What then? We shall walk through the fires. God being with us, we shall not be burned; nay, not even the smell of fire shall remain upon us.

Oh, the wonderful security of the heaven-born and heaven-bound pilgrim! Floods cannot drown him, nor fires burn him. Thy presence, O Lord, is the protection of Thy saints from the varied perils of the road. Behold, in faith I commit myself unto Thee, and my spirit enters into rest.
C.H. Spurgeon

C.H. Spurgeon certainly was quite the painter with visual speech.

Trials and Fear plagues us as Christians for a couple major reasons … [1] we don’t take God at His Word, because [2] we don’t trust God.

Proverbs 3:5-7 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil.

Talk is cheap, trust is not.

May His blessings be upon You. John

Good report on Kevin.  :)  Chickens before they're hatched?  You mean, don't anticipate being able to find the Christmas presents I'll be shopping for since I'm one of the maniacs waiting til the last minute?  Or....the nice guy in my class-is he the chicken?  Or me.  I'm the chicken.  I'm chicken about dating.  Chicken on steroids.  :)

Kevin is in my prayers. Thank you for the update, verses and commentary. I wish I knew why some of these challenges happen, but God uses them as part of His Master plan for us and the world.

Blessings

:sunny::wave:Hi Carolyn!  Such good news about Kevin!  We do serve an Awesome Living God!  This is an excellent post from Spurgeon!  One I needed to be reminded of today!  God has given me that scripture time and time again, and it's always been an encouragement! ~ I'm sorry I haven't been over in awhile!  I hope you're doing well, and you're enjoying getting ready for Christmas! So many things going on here ... God is growing me!    My son won't be with us for Christmas  :( ... but we did have him for Thanksgiving, and he will be back for 12 days the first of February.  We are also moving ... so much packing to do between now and Feb/March ... yes, the title of today's post was timely ... "Through, Not Engulfed"!!   Be blessed, and have a beautiful Christmas!

:heartbeat:Hugs,
~ Deborah <><
