I'll be busy cleaning my garage this weekend,
so I won't be on-line until . . .
You can say a little prayer for me.

Give What You Have

"Those who help others are helped."
Proverbs 11:25 TM

One night during the 1960's an African-American woman stood beside an Alabama highway in a terrible rainstorm. Her car had broken down and she desperately needed a ride, so she flagged down a car. When she did, something happened that was virtually unheard of in those racially charged years. A young white man stopped, drove her to safety, helped her get assistance and put her into a taxicab. Though the woman was in a hurry, she thanked him and wrote down his address.

To the man's surprise, a week later a colour television was delivered to his home with a note that read, "Thank you for helping me on the highway the other night. The rain had drenched not only my clothes but also my spirits. Because you came along I made it to my dying husband's bedside before he passed away. God bless you for unselfishly serving others. Signed: Mrs Nat King Cole." Every day opportunities to serve are coming toward you or passing you right by.

Learn to see them and seize them!

God says,

"The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped." And while you shouldn't just do it to just get something back, the Bible says, "The Lord will bless... and prosper everything you do... if you...obey Him" (Deuteronomy 28:8-9 TLB).

Listen again:

"It isn't important how much you are able to give... give what you have" (2 Corinthians 8:12 NLT). So, if you want to experience God's blessings in a major way today, go out and "give what you have."

Great quote!  And good story!  :heartbeat:

RYC:  Fondant is a confection that is used to cover cakes and candies smoothly.  It's like frosting that is the consistency of playdough, and it can be rolled out, cut into shapes, etc.  However, its taste is somewhere between frosting and playdough!  Ick!

RYC:  Oh -- the mini-cake idea sounds neat, but my daughter already decided on a traditional wedding cake.  Maybe I'll be able to remember that idea for my other daughter.

@GrapiesWordsofWisdom - Our garage has not been touched in years....sad to say. Dalip finally had someone replace the springs on the door and now we can open it. When the garage gets fully cleaned, then we'll have someone come and install a new garage door and opener. I have enjoyed being out there today. Of course, throwing things away and sorting, sorting sorting. Some things I'll want Anju and Eric to see...they may want to keep it or maybe not. I'm enjoying going through the memories. I can do most of it until I get to the back where boxes are on shelves...then I'll need help. I have to be careful and watch out for black widow spiders....I've seen some and killed some.   I'm moving boxes out of the garage also and I hope there's no rain coming. It's going to take me longer than a week, I'm sure. Thank you for your prayers!  ~Carolyn
