What to Leave Children

The just man walketh in his integrity:
his children are blessed after him.
Proverbs 20:7

Anxiety about our family is natural, but we shall be wise if we turn it into care about our own character. If we walk before the Lord in integrity, we shall do more to bless our descendants than if we bequeathed them large estates. A father's holy life is a rich legacy for his sons.

The upright man leaves his heirs his example, and this in itself will be a mine of true wealth, How many men may trace their success in life to the example of their parents!

He leaves them also his repute. Men think better of us as the sons of a man who could be trusted, the successors of a tradesman of excellent repute. Oh, that all young men were anxious to keep up the family name!

Above all, he leaves his children his prayers and the blessing of a prayer-hearing God, and these make our offspring to be favored among the sons of men. God will save them even after we are dead. Oh, that they might be saved at once!

Our integrity may be God's means of saving our sons and daughters. If they see the truth of our religion proved by our lives, it may be that they will believe in Jesus for themselves. Lord, fulfill this word to my household!

My mother fulfilled her purpose in life
and I am one example of her prayers!
 Praise You, Jesus!

JESUS IS ALL THE WORLD TO ME

Will L. Thompson

Jesus is all the world to me,
My life, my joy, my all;
He is my strength from day to day,
Without Him I would fall.

When I am sad to Him I go,
No other one can cheer me so;
When I am sad He make me glad,
He's my Friend.

Jesus is all the world to me,
And true to Him I'll be;
O how could I this Friend deny,
When He's so true me?

Following Him I know I'm right,
He watches o'er me Day and night;
Following Him by day and night,
He's my Friend.

Jesus is all the world to me,
I want no better friend;
I trust Him now, I'll trust when
Life's fleeting days shall end.

Beautiful life with such a Friend;
Beautiful life that has no end;
Eternal life, eternal joy,

He’s my Friend.

Hi Carolyn,

I can't believe how much your mom looks like my mom in the picture from 1946.  You sure can tell they were sisters!  Thanks for a great posting.  Love, Lynette    :wave:

A few years ago, a wonderful man in our church retired from the worship team. His name is Rich... and I wrost him a poem entitled "Rich Legacy"..for he really was a great example of God's love to us. He framed it and put it up in his house, and now his grandchildren ask him to read it every time they visit. He tells me he loved it so much, and I tell him obviously he is leaving a leagcy of the richenss of God's love to his family.

:sunny:Hello Dear Carolyn! I've done well today, thank you for asking! :) I got to talk to my son in CA, and that always makes my day! This is such a good post ... the pictures are so special. Integrity in our walk is so important to our children. We've prayed, and with the Lord's wisdom through the years, we hope we've left our son a good foundation to build his relationship with Christ on. Right now we are missing him ... it's been over a year that he's been out working with the church, which started as a 2 month internship! God has used it to grow me in many areas ... it hasn't been easy, being that he is my only child. It's been hard releasing him, but, with His grace, it gets easier each day. And, I love this song ... He truly is my strength from day to day!

RYC: I liked those kittens on that video, too ... I have a cat, who I adore ... he's mostly like a little dog, following me everywhere. He has an interesting personality that makes having him so much fun! Very obedient, and he comes running when he's called!  He didn't seem too interested in the cat video, though ... hmmm, jealousy, maybe?! :lol:  Now, I will tell you there is a lady on here who taped at least 30 minutes+ of a bird that started singing at 10:30PM and continued on through the night.  She said it was perched outside her bedroom window, in an orange tree!  Well, my cat really perked up with that one! He could have listened to that all night!  If you want to hear it, you can find it over at Kelly's place ... Kainos.  I think your cat would enjoy it, too!  It's really very pretty, but I suppose it would get annoying if you were trying to fall asleep!

Well, did you get your garage work all done? We're hoping to do some 'homey' things around here this weekend ... for once we don't have much planned, except church on Sunday. You have a blessed weekend, and go on over and listen to those birds sing!! :spinning:

:wave:Hugs,

:shysmile:P.S. Well, I think I got my timing on the tapes of the bird song wrong ... it isn't 30 minutes+ ... I went over to share it with my husband (he's a birdman), and she has a few minutes of audio on each of the 3 tapes posted.  But, she did say it sang pert' near the whole night long!! :wink:
