Read to Your Bunny is my favorite for new readers and their parents
.....
The Reading Motherby Strickland Gillilan I had a Mother who read to me
Sagas of pirates who scoured the sea,
Cutlasses clenched in their yellow teeth,
"Blackbirds" stowed in the hold beneath.
I had a Mother who read me lays
Of ancient and gallant and golden days;
Stories of Marmion and Ivanhoe,
Which every boy has a right to know.
I had a Mother who read me tales
Of Gelert and hound of the hills of Wales,
True to his trust till his tragic death,
Faithfulness blent with his final breath.
I had a Mother who read me the things
That wholesome life to the boy heart brings -
Stories that stir with an upward touch,
Oh, that each mother of boys were such!
You may have tangible wealth untold;
Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold.
Richer than I you can never be -
I had a Mother who read to me.

Oh this is so beautiful. Love the painting too...I've never seen that one before. Lovely! I've been away from my blog lately, it's been an unusually busy month with Michelle's graduation looming. Have a nice day in Jesus! : ) ~Amelia
Hey Beautiful You! It's been awhile since I've posted (as usual). Lovely poem. My mom used to read to us all the time even as we grew older and we loved it. How are you doing?
@thats_italian - Oh, I know what you mean! I have a graduate this year. She will be our third daughter to graduate......the ceremony is this Saturday and we are having a party here Saturday evening! What a week!! Whew! This is our 13th year of homeschooling and we participate in the large graduation in Houston, TX. It's formal and always nice....
Our oldest did not want a Graduation party and our second oldest daughter's party was rained out. This time, the weather looks like it's going to be good for this one and we are having quite a turn out! Oh my! I'm wondering what I got myself into.....Is Michelle your third graduate as well?
We will have an eight year break before our next graduation. Three girls in a row, then a break and our oldest son will graduate ~ he's only eight now.
We have three reversal babies, that explains the break! The year after he graduates we'll have another, then three years later another. I'm sure everyone will think we are their grandparents! LOL It will be interesting to be there for his with all of the younger parents!! It always has been. You and I are about the same age....so you can imagine! your daughters are beautiful, I saw one or two of their pics!
Have a great week and, like me, TRY to enjoy the stress free graduation!!
What are your graduates plans..a party?
@Resolved2WalkInLove - It's definitely a busy time but a happy and fun one too! So many new things going on! : )
My two older girls did the large graduation, this time we are trying a smaller more indivualized one, so far it's been fun! A lot of work but fun! ; )
For my oldest daughter, we did a family party combined with a mother's day celebration at my inlaws, and that was nice. And for my second daughter's graduation we did a little party here at our home for those who came to the ceremony reception and that worked great! : ) We ended up with an intimate group of tried and true friends! For my third little graduate we're doing a gathering a couple of weeks later for her friends, so that way I will get a wee bit of a break! ; )
You are so funny, I have a darling little neighbor lady who adopted a baby girl, she laughed and told the pediatrician that she was going to have to buy both diapers and depends too! LOL
I have one more little gal graduating but I'll have four more years before that, so I should be getting to know the ropes pretty good before then! : ) We just finished our 18th year of homeschooling and it has been such a blessing!
You take care now, you all are so cute, I hope have a wonderful and blessed time at the ceremony this Sat.!
So glad you are enjoying the "Harry" books too! I thought he was the cutest thing ever! And it's so true, we should be just like that in the Body of Christ. : ) Maybe we should start a blog ring for those who love "Harry" (the elephant) ; ) lol
You have a great week, lot's to do I know. Take care now, and have fun! Hope all went well at the rehearsal. : )
Blessings! : )
