Today is the day God chose
Today is the day God chose to bring me into the world....yes, it's my birthday!!! Happy birthday to me! It was a wonderful day today.
I got to spend it with Brittany
Twice in the past two weeks or so I have 'lost it'
thinking about her going to Nicaragua for so long! I missed them so much when she and Natalie went for two weeks!God's grace IS (and WILL BE) sufficient.
Yesterday was one of those days! For some reason, I decided to update her journal I have been adding to and working on for years, (filling in...you know those type) and was adding pictures. I could hardly look at her without wanting to cry, and finally I met Barry in our closet and I had a crying spell. He is such a comforter and helper.
She is my best friend (next to Barry) and has helped me get through the toughest times in my life. No one else but God knows about some of them....not even Barry. He's a man (well, of course you know that!
), and they don't always understand everything like a woman does. Sometimes they are at work when "things" happen and we break. But, God has blessed me with the most wonderful " _ " year old daughter in the world!!! This I know to be true!
She is beautiful inside and outside. Very mature for her age and can run a household. She has actually been capable of that since she was about 12 or 13 years old. Brittany is our dinner cook sooooo.....I have brainstormed and decided to make out a rotating dinner menu for three weeks and a coordinating grocery list and go from there. Brittany has always been able to put together what we have, add the most perfect blend of spices and make a delicious meal, most of the time without recipes! Please pray that God really does make this transition into another season easy on us both. She is so close to her brothers and sisters and will miss them terribly. She needs God's grace as well. Thanks for your prayers!
Mother's Day is coming!!! I have so much I want to pass along, so let's start with Proverbs 31:10-31
The Woman Who Fears the Lord
from The Message Bible
A good woman is hard to find, and worth far more than diamonds.
Her husband trusts her wtihout reserve, and never has reason to regret it.
Never spiteful, she treats him generously all her life long.
She shops around for the best yarns and cottons, and enjoys knitting and sewing.
She's like a trading ship that sails to faraway places and brings back exotic surprises.
She's up before dawn, preparing breakfast for her family and organizing her day.
She looks over a field and buys it, then, with money she's put aside, plants a garden.
First thing in the morning, she dresses for work, rolls up her sleeves, eager to get started.
She senses the worth of her work, is in no hurry to call it quits for the day.
She's skilled in the crafts of home and hearth, diligent in homemaking.
She's quick to assist anyone in need, reaches out to help the poor.
She doesn't worry about her family when it snows; their winter clothes are all mended and ready to wear.
She makes her own clothing, and dresses in colorful linens and silks.
Her husband is greatly respected when he deliberates with the city fathers.
She designs gowns and sells them, brings the sweaters she knits to the dress shops.
Her clothes are well-made and elegant, and she always faces tomorrow with a smile.
When she speaks she has something worthwhile to say, and she always says it kindly.
She keeps an eye on everyone in her household, and keeps them all busy and productive.

Her children respect and bless her; her husband joins in with words of praise: "Many women have done wonderful things but you've outclassed them all!"
Charm can mislead and beauty soon fades. The woman to be admired and praised is the woman who lives in the Fear-of-God.
Give her everything she deserves! Festoon her life with praises!
Enjoy your week, and enjoy your children!
Children are a heritage of the Lord, and the fruit of the womb is His reward! Psalm 127:3

Love and Blessings,
Sarah
PS... Happy Birthday Too!!!!
Awww....Bless your heart, I can only imagine how you must feel...I would be totally the same way, totally. I too have teared up and sensed so much change going on lately. A Mother's heart, nothing much like it on earth is there? I guess that's a fraction of the Father's heart for us too.
Happy Belated Birthday! I'm so glad to hear you spent it in such a wonderful-wonderful way! Yay!!!!
I'm so glad to hear that the graduation festivitites went without a hitch! Yippee! Catering...that sounds great! Do you mind if I ask where you catered from? I'm always putting things in my file for the future. ; ) I have a feeling for Michelle's get together Mama Mia here will be making those meat-a-ballas! But...ya never know.... ; )
You are a darling, so nice to hear from you!
Take care, I'll pray for you that God will minister to your beautiful Mother's heart, and of course I always covet prayers as well. : ) Blessings to you, have a joyful day in Jesus!
@Heismystronghold - She will be gone five months max!!! Back home in October when the missionary family comes to the states for a conference. They have lived there for about 10 years now.
Thank you for your prayers. We will have two different land lines and a web cam so I know that will be a help to me!!! The family she is staying with is a like-minded in family vision. Vivian (the mother) is so like me. God has given us a peace, but it still is challenging.
We know a family who's daughter went to South Korea for three months and she did fine. She's just like us too, so it is possible. I know God's grace will be there when I need it. It always has and always will be! Thank you for your note and prayers!
@thats_italian -Yes, thank you for that reminder! That is one thing I have learned so far (many more lessons to learn I'm sure!). God loves us more than we love our children. That is a good way to put it, 'what we are as mothers is actually only a fraction' of what He is! Recently in my prayer closet, I told the Lord as I gave her to Him (again)......"Lord, you are such a perfect Father and I know you will take care of her while she is away from us. You are a much better Father than I am a mother. She is yours and I fully expect You to care for her."..........
I recently made a "cast your cares" box out of a pretty kleenex box and I have little slips of paper sitting beside it. Across the top of the box I wrote the scripture 'cast your cares on the Lord for He cares for you.' We are all going to use it to write our cares, whatever they are, on the slip of paper and put it in the box, leaving it with the Lord. He has so much compassion, we cannot comprehend it and is eager to meet those needs and take our burdens and cares! Thank the Lord for His goodness!!
I will be praying for you too. I know our daughters are about the same age and many transitions lie ahead. Good ones of course! She is the oldest for us, so that means new territory for each new season
. God is good!
To answer your question about graduation ~ We ordered our catering from a Mexican restaurant called Estaban's and the cake from Cakes by Jula. It was beautiful! I'll post pictures when I get a minute. The menu was beef and cheese enchiladas, spanish rice, beans, cucumber tomato salad (which I had made ~ easy, easy and delicious!), queso and salsa (which our graduate is a pro at making) and the cake. It was almond with buttercreme icing. Everyone went on and on about it. It was astoundingly delicious!!!!
Have a blessed and happy day in the Lord! Thank you for your kind words and prayers.
@Rainbow08191992 - Thank you! I love the mini!
Hi Stephanie!
I'm so sorry I haven't been over sooner! I've missed so much, and there is so much to comment on! First of all, I hope you had a blessed and happy birthday yesterday! I will also be praying for you, and Brittany ... I know what it is to have a child so far from home, as you know, with my son being in California! He has been gone for a year now! :o( We still don't know when he's coming home, but as you said, God's grace is, and continues to be sufficient for me! He has been faithful, but I have had a few days, these past couple of weeks, when I've been really weak in that area, and have 'lost' it ... (our husbands don't always understand these things a mother goes through, although I love him to pieces) so I tend to feel really alone in this. Your post is a blessing to read. I have prayed for more children ... but I rest in the blessing God has given me in our only son. I've learned that we have to completely release them to Him ... trouble is, I keep taking him back! And, I'm still learning what it is to be a parent, even after all these years! I will be praying for you, as you enter this new season of change. So many of us are getting ready to, or are going through it now. As you know, I'm in the midst myself, and through it all, God has used it to grow me closer to Him! Right where He wants us all!
You have a blessed evening, my friend! Again, I'm so sorry I haven't kept up on things happening with you, or keeping you posted on Ian ... I know you were praying for him, and your prayers are still so appreciated. He has been calling home more often, and said he'd like to come home for his birthday in July. He just doesn't have the money right now, but I know God will provide ... He always does! You mentioned your daughter enjoyed cooking ... my son did most of the cooking before he left ... all so delicious, and without recipes, too! I miss that so much! You have a wonderful Wednesday.
Bless you!
