| | For this New Year, I wanted to make use of my lovely new widescreen Intuos. Plus my digital painting has been rusty lately...

Here's the proof. I'm not too happy with this outcome since I didn't
have any photo reference for her clothes and hair. None the less, I'm
finished with this piece and titled it Jade. If you are curious of how I painted her, I have a photoshop file version of this painting on my protected post for you to download.

Okay, so basically I want to do more concept paintings for the new year since I've been lacking last year.
I am going to start a project for myself...here it is.
You request a painting for me by commenting on my lasts request post,
and I will paint it. Sounds like a lot of work right? Well here is the
catch, I will pick only one request (that I like) out of the bunch. It will
take a week for me to finish the concept painting, and when the week is
over, I will post up the finished piece and link the person who
requested it for me and start a new cycle of request. If you have
already requested a painting for me, and I did not get to it, just
recomment it to me on the next cycle because I may eventually get to
it.
Now if you expect the painting to look like the piece above, it is
probably not going to. Since they will be concept paintings, it will look
like this below...but who knows, if I'm in the mood it would probably look better =)
Why am I doing this? To better myself in digital painting. Also, I am in art school to major in illustration. Many people get confused and think that illustrators draw and paint whatever they want, but that is not the case. Fine artists usually have more freedom to create what they want, while illustrators are confined to create what they are asked. A Fine artist sells their art, while an Illustrator sells their skills. So I am practicing for my future career, to create art for you.
I know this is late, but I had to post it up. I had to take 10 different shots of her because she was very squirmy and fussy. Yes she looks pissed because she was pissed!

I shall take your request now. What do you want me to paint?! Ask ask ask away! I will let you know if I chose your idea, but don't fret because there is always next week to ask again. Who doesn't want a free painting?! =) ~Michelle Phan
