| | Have you ever had myzithra cheese? It's an ewe's milk cheese from
Greece with a dry, crumbly texture and a very unusual flavor. It's a
little chalky, and faintly sweet. I don't know what other words to use
for it. It hints at a dozen different flavor, but I can't separate them
enough to define them. I like it. Cheese is as fascinating as tea,
wine, and chocolate!
Today was poetry judging day for the Campbell English Department's publication The Lyricist.
The eight hours and fifteen minutes I spent locked up in Layton Annex
with twelve other students and 200 + poems didn't improve my opinion of
human potential. Flannery O'Connor's quote is haunting me: "Everywhere
I go, I'm asked
if I think the universities stifle writers. My opinion is that they
don't stifle enough of them."
I'm trying to calculate the number of poems we covered. Assuming
an average of 23 poems per packet and 9 packets, I've read - and argued
over - slightly more than 200 poems since 10 this morning.
