I didn't have my calculator with me during lab this evening, and we were working a problem involving trignometric functions. So I turned around and requested, exquisitely polite, of the three people at the other table, "Excuse me, might I borrow your flashlight for a few moments?"

After about three and a half seconds of staring back at them, I heard what I'd said.

On the whole, I still astonish myself.
