| | My fiance is a resourceful man. I've always known this, but I'm still astonished by new proofs of it. Tuesday afternoon we were looking at a potential wedding site. Everything about it was perfect, except that the color scheme I'd chosen was too dark to look well in the sanctuary.
Me: Evan, you're better at visualizing things than I am. What do you think would look good? Evan: Yellow. You need something bright. Me: Yes, but yellow can be a difficult color. Evan: What I need is a box of crayons. Me: A - what? Evan: A box of crayons. And I know where we can get them. We passed a nursery in the outside hall. I never heard of a nursery without crayons. Me: The nursery's locked. Evan: Then let's ask the office manager if she'll unlock it for us. Me: I think you'd better ask her . . . .
So he did. The office manager, bewildered but obliging, fetched her key ring and opened the nursery for us. We found the crayons all right, and she left us standing in the sanctuary holding up crayons against the background. I'm glad she did leave us, because Evan's next brilliant idea involved a squeaking toy, also from the nursery. With the joint help of the crayons and the toy, we concluded that light blue, green, and yellow are our only color options.
I don't think the office manager will ever forget us.
